What customers say

Stunning lake views, spacious sites, and spotless modern facilities impress. Owners are welcoming. Deadwood Wild West town nearby is a hit. Some plane noise is noted but generally manageable. Peaceful, relaxing, great for nature lovers and families.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet site with large pitches and the owner was really helpful and nice. Short 10 mins walk to pub was a little rough in places and had to take care. Pitches had own picnic table and fire pit which was a bonus. The Deadwood western town was good also.

Disliked Take earplugs as the planes were operating
Over the site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We were greeted in showed were to park, excellent conditions, almost everything provided.
Safety excellent the entire pond had fence around so kids can’t accidently wonder into it.

I will may certainly be visiting again. I would give the farm and facilities 10/10

Honestly deadwood and the folks we met in Deadwood are not a reflection of this farm. Reasoning = a couple don’t represent an entire community. Though like minded couples attract like minded folks. Their views were blatantly “obvious”.

Disliked The neighbouring farm, Deadwood my brother and I did not have a Pleasant experience. We stuck to the public pathway walked (wondered) into this western where we were apprehended by ALLEN (who runs the Eatery).

It seemed as if we were being interrogated as to why we have entered this site.

1. Where you staying?
2. What are you doing here?

Though Allen then try to convince us that we were welcomed his next remark / joke really put us off the entire concept of a western. When he made a particular derogatory remark. Lastly, nail in the coffin was when his wife presented out of nowhere “my daughter is more brown than yall”.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location, easy to drive to or short walk from nearby bus stop. Perfect for our first camping experience.

Defined pitches with decent space. Toilets very clean and well stocked. (Proper toilets in well lit building with sink, mirror, wash area, and outdoor washing up sink). Picnic and fire pit provided with firewood sold on site. Great atmosphere, very picturesque with lake nearby and nice quiet area.

Bins on site to leave your rubbish in when you leave.

Disliked Would have stayed longer if site had a shower but understand this is not always possible.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Beautiful lakes, super clean facilities, big pitch, very quiet (except for the occasional plane!). Saw lots of wildlife, bats, rabbits, deer & so many butterflies & grasshoppers!
Deadwood wild west town was brilliant & we caught it on a live day, all the reenactment crew were lovely & really interesting too!

Disliked Planes were loud, but the site warned us before the stay & it wasn't a problem after a while at all.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We loved Wattlhurst farm, we were pitched by the small lake and it was so quiet and peaceful, the view of the lake was beautiful. Sarah (I think that’s the owners name) was a lovely owner, really kind and helpful! Toilet facilities were good and the walk nearby was great! We will definitely be coming back!

Disliked On the other lake there was some naked children round there and I think would make some people feel uncomfortable.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked My first trip to this site and my first solo trip. I absolutely loved it. The pitches are well spaced out and are all on the side of the lake, all have a firepit and a wooden bench table. Toilets are immaculate, despot there only being 2 cubicles, however, as there are only 11 pitches and this site, that’s enough.
I did one night on my own, and was literally the only person there, so it felt like wild camping, with the bonus of a toilet. Nights 2 & 3 were with my niece and nephews, and they also had a great time running about the field and playing with other kids. It was the perfect weekend.

Disliked There are no showers, but I’m fortunate to live close enough, that when I picked up my niece and nephews, I could freshen up. However, a bowl of water heated with my kettle and soap/flannel was also fine, so it’s not really a drawback for me.

Local attractions

Staying at Wattlehurst Farm you’ll be just outside the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are plenty of places around to get out for a walk – popular spots like Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Tillingbourne waterfall are all about 20 minutes’ drive away. If you like your views more landscaped, make a trip to the National Trust gardens at Nymans (also 20 minutes’ drive) or Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens (25 minutes). With Gatwick Airport not far off, this is a fine area for flight enthusiasts – and you can get up close to various planes at Gatwick Aviation Museum (20 minutes) and Wings Aviation Museum (25 minutes). Flying of a different kind is on display at Huxley’s Birds of Prey Centre and Gardens (15 minutes). For more involved day trips, you can get to the seaside at Brighton in about 50 minutes, or head to Holmwood station (10 minutes) for the hour-long train ride to London. Closer to home, outings might include Go Ape Crawley, Fishers Farm Park or a more grownup trip to Bolney Wine Estate (all 25 minutes away).
