Liked: Have been coming to New House Farm campsite for many years as offers a much 'wilder' camping experience than anywhere else in the region in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Management has recently changed, and Rachel, who runs the site now, was very welcoming and very helpful. It is still by far the cheapest site I know of in the South East. Highly recommended for those who want a natural camping experience (facilities are limited: there is water and toilets, and fire pits can be hired)
Disliked: Nothing

Liked: The field was beautiful, large, quiet and definitely off grid. The long track approach was fun to drive or walk down to the pub. The host, Rachel was among the kindest I have experienced, she sourced us gas canisters and provided wood for our fire pit.
Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Fabulous wild setting with amazing night skies and wildlife, but near to great pubs and perfect location for the best of the South Downs. Good set up with clean toilets, drinking water and mown pitches. Basic facilities appropriate for a wild campsite.
Disliked: The track to the camping field was quite tough on my car, but I only have a very old Hyundai i10!

Liked: A beautiful, hidden, idyllic place way up in the South Downs with stunning vistas where the only sounds you can hear are birdsong, the hoot of barn owls and the occasional bleat of sheep. Nursed my 77 VW Westfalia, Nessie, up the steep climb and very glad I did. New(ish) manager Rachel is really friendly and welcoming and determined to keep this spot as wild as the name suggests!

Liked: Very rural site. No car noise, airplane noise or light pollution. Great place for exploring South Downs. Plenty of space. Exactly as it was described.
Disliked: My only very small gripe is that it would have been helpful to have grid reference texted to me as well as post code. Post code perfect for drivers, but as a walker I would have accessed the site from a different way.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and I hope you enjoyed your stay. To assist walkers, I send our exact location using what3words (travels.being.flattered) which is on our welcome email. Thank you for your feedback on providing a grid reference - this is very useful to know and something I will look into providing. With best regards, Rachel

Liked: Newhouse Farm is wild camping at its best, stunningly beautiful, away from everything yet close enough for a walk to the pub if wanted. The way the site as been set out is perfect allowing you to have your space (and views) uninterrupted, space for groups to get together too. You are surrounded by woodland too. First aid, and emergency fire boxes around, charcoal disposal, water and portaloos all available and logs can be purchased if needed. The host is great with contact and couldn’t have been more accommodating - we will be back! WiFi not great for me BUT that was was I needed!

Liked: The tranquility and the views. We virtually had the site to ourselves during a half term week which was amazing. The (chemical) toilets were clean and there is a new and much more conveniently sited drinking water tap and the water tastes better. Rachel (new operator) is lovely and welcoming wants to make sure the site works whilst keeping it simple which we really appreciate.
Disliked: The track up to this elevated site is uneven and could damage the underneath of most regular cars. It's been like this for years and has got worse but the good news is that Rachel is going to improve this. Access to the surrounding woodland is now more restricted due to ash dieback but this is beyond the site's control and there is still plenty of woodland to enjoy!

Liked: Fantastic, peaceful spot. A wonderful place to get away from it all and improved since our last visit - water at the top of the hill and wonderfully maintained toilets. We were welcomed and checked on a couple of times during our stay. We will definitely be back!
