  • Peaceful country site 10 minutes' drive from Goodwood Motor Circuit
  • Around 10 minutes' drive from beaches at Pagham and Bognor Regis
  • Firepit area on site and five minutes' drive from a farm shop
Coast or country? Dither ye not, fair reader, for a stay at Lagnersh Camping is one that has you handily placed for both. The site is just 10 minutes' drive away from Goodwood Motor Circuit, making it a mightily handy spot to attend the events it puts on throughout the year such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. This peaceful site has five acres of gorgeous West Sussex countryside to its name, giving guests plenty of space from which to watch buzzards flying overhead or look out for the deer that sometimes drop in to graze. Fancy seeing a bit more? Clamber over the stile to stride forth on local footpaths, or drive for 15 minutes up to the South Downs National Park. ‘Like living in the middle of nowhere but only 10 minutes from civilisation’ is how the folks here describe their place. To back that up, a few minutes' drive away is a well-stocked farm shop for all the bits you need for a barbecue or a top-notch night at the site’s firepit area. Time to swap the rural views for some sea air? It’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to Pagham or Bognor Regis, or around 20 for Climping and the Witterings.

Local attractions

Folks who like a bit of horsey action can either saddle up for a ride at the stables a few minutes away in Hunston. Grab your bucket, your board or your binoculars if you’re heading beachwards – there are family-friendly sandy stretches at Climping and West Wittering (20 minutes away), surf swells at East Wittering (20 minutes) and an RSPB nature reserve 10 minutes away at Pagham Harbour. Or you may like to head into Bognor Regis, 10 minutes away, for classic seaside attractions including an 18-hole miniature golf course, a boating lake and a miniature railway. History buffs may also like to fill their days seeing the restored houses and rural crafts at the Weald & Downland Living Museum, wandering around Fishbourne Roman Palace or watching seasonal jousting tournaments at medieval Arundel Castle; all are less than half an hour away by car.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Very friendly and helpful people. The site is nice and clean. Close to goodwood and bognor. It's a very pleasant and peaceful place to stay.

Disliked: The toilet and shower rooms are way to small for the size of the site. It really needs another block at the over end of the site.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Washing up area was great as it had a fridge, freezer, microwave and kettle. There was liquid and cloths there too. The showers were clean. Got a warm welcome. Be aware that the site will probably get busy when there is an event on at Goodwood.

Disliked: The showers are small and there are only four (and one was out of order). You can here some road noise from the A27 and airplanes. People drive to the showers/toilets - it's unnecessary as the site is not that big. Grass cuttings were left so got everywhere - why can't they be collected during the mowing?

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: • Very friendly people running the place • Good sized pitch • Loved renting a fire pit •Nice to be able to change the water temperature and pressure in the shower • Fridge/freezer available to put your own stuff in • Wash up area was good and they had fairy liquid/ sponges / cloths available which was a bonus • ‘ The Walnut Tree’ pub 5 mins away is very good highly recommend if you don’t feel like cooking • lovely clean and well maintained camping area

Disliked: • Toilet cubicles were very small the door would pretty much brush the toilet when open/closing however the toilet closest to the door was bigger (wasn’t a problem having unisex toilets however a few more toilets would be good) • Shower cubicles we’re small only 2 hooks would be nice to have a bench to put your stuff on however there is one outside but no use if you don’t want to walk out in your towel • single track road in/out we had to wait a good 10/15 mins for people to be let in before we could leave only a problem because we had to wait we were late to our dinner reservation • it looks as tho some people live there permanently in the camping area ( not the problem) however we did get pestered about ‘selling our van’ (car van not caravan) (didn’t complain as we were only booked in for a couple of days)

From the manager: I am sorry to hear this whoever pestered you about selling your van you should of let me know and I would if delt with it I apologise for this . And glad you had nice time more toilets are next to bed done and hooks

Friendly, clean and relaxed atmosphere. Would stay again.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Really friendly manager/owner. Very welcoming and lots of presence from them if you needed any help. Facilities were clean and in good order and cleaned regularly, it was a busy weekend due to Goodwood FOS

Disliked: Would be good to have separate male and female toilets and showers. It did get busy which led to some queuing and although clean they are a little small for comfort, especially when you can’t come out the shower without being fully dressed as it’s all unisex.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Nice flat pitch and hosts friendly. Fire pit available to rent with logs for £10 which we enjoyed. Kitchenette shed was clean and a handy to have kettle and microwave. Good location 25 min drive to west wittering beach.

Disliked: Showers were not clean, mould on wall and ceiling surfaces and food in plug holes, floor mats not clean. Toilets were multi-sex so it felt a bit uncomfortable. They were also not clean and door left open so full of bugs. Flooring in kitchenette shed was very unstable. Only one drinking water tap which was a bit awkward as campervan user was filling up their tank.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry you felt this way there's no mould it's water marks from steam . Sadly I can't controll how campers leave the kitchen I do clean it hourly I apologise you felt this way but sadly food in sinks is campers not owners but i try my hardest keep clean appologise for you feeling this way . Grass on mats again is people using toilets they are cleaned hourly as is campers leaving doors open lights on again sorry

Liked: Location

Disliked: Mate, I weren’t too happy wiv that campin’ site, yeah? Place was proper filthy, weren’t clean at all, spiders all over the gaff. If you’re into spiders, you’ll love it ‘cos they’re everywhere. Crawlin’ out the showers, comin’ from behind the bogs, even creepin’ out the bog roll when you’re tryin’ to tear it. Water stinks like a bad penny. The conditions were dire for the price they’re chargin’. Proper rip-off, if you ask me.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: The spider in the showers and toilets come back every night as I try to clean them and campers just leave the doors open and lights creatures are attracted to and spiders will get anywhere they are cleaned all the time spiders etc come back hour later they full it's part and parcel of life and some of these pictures are old pictures as some of the stuff in pictures are not current that I can say .. sorry you felt this way but if campers do shut doors then would help stop this .
