Liked: Fantastic place for families. Lots of green for kids to run and play. Playground on the site. Access to the river with fishing and kayaking. Campfire (you can buy the logs from the owners) and bench next to the Glamping. Washing station on the site. Beautiful nights with sky full of stars 🌟 5 minutes walk away from restaurant and cafe with ice-cream.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Good size campsite that allowed fires. Had a wonderful play area for the children. Locked gate and felt very secure. Direct access to the river. Friendly and helpful owners, lovely village location. Riverside pitches provided lovely uninterrupted river views. Children loved the animals onsite. Clean toilets. Washing up station.

Disliked: No shower block however on this occasion we only stayed one night so it wasn’t an issues, any longer and it might have been

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: This was the second time me and my better half has stayed here, its just so chilled and relaxed. The owners are really nice and helpful. It's a locked enclosure so there's great security and although we were the only ones there we also had the company of two very friendly sheep ! There's a nice pub 5 mins by foot and access to to lovely Riverside walks. Will definitely be back

Disliked: I know its cheesy but the dislike is we had to go so soon.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: This basic campsite is great if you want a simple camping experience. It has toilets, running (cold) water, fire pits and plenty of space to pitch and run around in. It even has a children's play area. This was ideal for me and another parent taking our children for a camping trip. The people who run it are very friendly. It's also less than 5 minutes walk from Yalding station which makes it ideal if travelling without a car, or for getting the train back after a long walk north along the River Medway.

Disliked: Didn't dislike anything but if you wanted more than basics (hot water, showers), you'll be disappointed. However, the campsite has only been going a few years and they are already building new toilets and planning to add showers, so maybe next summer they will have those.

Local attractions

Pay a visit to the biggest collection of teapots in England. If such a thing wasn’t on your travel wishlist previously, it will be now – after all Teapot Island is only five minutes’ walk away. Also close by is The Hop Farm (five minutes’ drive), likely to be a hit with young kids due to its small farm animals and soft play. Adults will be happy to find things catering to their taste too. Fishing activities are available at Claygate Lakes (10 minutes) and at Mereworth Wines (10 minutes), taste test local wines and potions in the winery and taproom. If it’s the historical sort of stuff you’re mostly interested in, Leeds Castle (25 minutes) and Scotney Castle (25 minutes) will get that in full swing. Straight out of the 17th century, Knole Park (half an hour) is a National Trust site with a deer park, gatehouse tower and attics. Sissinghurst Castle Garden (half an hour) is another historical spot, with a Grade I-listed park and gardens. As for peaceful walks by the river and picnics in meadows, head to Teston Bridge Country Park (10 minutes).
