  • Small family-run campsite set in woodland alongside the River Medway
  • Leeds Castle and Bewl Water Aqua Park both 25 minutes’ drive
  • Water sports, walking and biking from the pitches; licensed café
Set in four acres of woodland bordering the River Medway and 15 minutes’ drive from Tonbridge in Kent, Branbridges Leisure is a small family-run site with all sorts of camping and glamping options to suit all sorts of people – and their dogs, of course. And once you get there, you’ll discover there are all sorts of things to do around and about the site too; it’s on the Medway Canoe Trail – a huge draw for water-sports enthusiasts who can kayak and splash around to their heart’s content. Bring your own gear (a small launch fee is applied) or hire everything on site. Walkers and cyclists can follow the Medway Valley Walk along the river right from their pitches – with the added bonus that there are many pubs for refreshment stops along the way. The site also includes a small fishing lake stocked with carp, roach, perch and chub as well as a stretch along the banks of the Medway. The fishing is free for all campsite guests. When you need an energy boost after all that activity, head for the licensed on-site café serving locally sourced menus and eat overlooking the river. Prefer self-catering? Bring your own barbecues (the café can supply barbecue packs) and firepits, or hire them on site, where you can buy buckets of wood, along with camping essentials, in the pop-up shop. For anything else, there’s a small convenience store opposite the site.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Relaxed atmosphere with plenty of space for camping and also for the kids to play, run by really friendly and helpful people. Loved having the river so close by. Short walk to local shop and takeaway a few minutes drive away was really convenient too. We’ll definitely be back!

Disliked: Only thing I can think of is the loo roll ran out late evening and wasn’t restocked until the next day

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We hope to see you again soon 😊 Apologies about the loo roll - you wouldn't believe how much we get through 😂

Waterfront safari tent

Liked: Received a warm welcome at this lovely site. The entrance via a small industrial estate does not prepare you for the delights this site has to offer. The whole set up has been managed so well and provided a much needed break for a couple of nights. We booked last minute in the lakeside Safari tent which had everything provided and featured a lovely veranda over the lake. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site. Campers can have open pit fires and BBQs and fish for free in the lake. The local Co-op store is just outside the campsite so no need to drive to pick up those last minute items. The campsite offers canoeing & paddleboarding directly on the river and we found a few lovely local walks with the dog. The staff are excellent and can't do enough for you.

From the manager: We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your break and that you felt that the site is well managed. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and thank you for your kind comments 😊

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: So far one of our favourite camping site. It has many great activities for kids/adults with also a side river walk with some beautiful views.there’s also a near by shop down the road which came in handy.the facilities such as the showers and toilet they are all clean and very well kept .there’s a bar onsite which is also the reception which has some of the things that you would enjoy on a sunny day. The coffee shop is clean and has many options for drinks and food . The staff are also very welcoming and friendly in the caffe and on the campsite. The pitches are all great especially the grass pitches.

Disliked: We took the last spot on the grass pitch which was one of the back ones and unfortunately that was one of the worst ones as it was muddy even though it was sunny . The next day it rained and even made the situation worse so I would recommend picking either the two sides or the front of the pitch and try to avoid the back part.however we still had a wonderful time and will definitely return.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are very pleased to hear that we are one of your favourtie camp sites! Thank you very much for your review!! Sorry to hear you felt you had a muddy pitch. We do not allocate pitches so people can pick a pitch to suit their needs. We only fill to 3/4 capacity so that everyone has an enjoyable time and can pick from many pitches and allows more space to choose from. I hope on your return you can find another pitch you like 😊

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked: Liked absolutely everything about this site. The owners are friendly and accommodating, we were lucky to have been pitched next to other family’s, so all the kids were playing and interacting with each other, most of the weekend. I can’t wait to come back next season

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much! Your photos are great, sounds like you had a great time 😊 We hope to see you again next season!!

Primitive forest floor RV campsite (woodland)

Liked: We do a lot of camping through Pitch Up, here and in France, and can honestly say that this amazing lakeside/woodland/riverside site is one of our all time favourites! The pitch settings around the lake are fantastic. The hosts are brilliant and clearly love what they do, providing helpful advice and very high standard facilities and equipment that campers and river users want for a great leisure experience. The river access is excellent and couldn’t be easier, being right outside the gate. The cafe did a good choice of reasonably priced food and coffee.

Disliked: A couple of minor issues - although it is specified in the details, we were surprised that there is a charge for showers because we have not paid extra for this essential facility anywhere else. Also, following a very relaxing quiet first evening, unfortunately we had to put up with several hours of antisocial loud and annoying “music” blasting out from further across the site on the second night. Thankfully they shut up at 10pm, before we got fed up enough to phone the off duty hosts. Obviously this can happen anywhere, but it wasn’t expected here.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: So pleased to hear that we are one of your all time favourite campsites!! Thank you for you 10/10 review 😊 Sorry to hear you were surprised by the £1 shower costs. Unfortunately with water and electricity costs these days we do have to factor this in rather than hike up our pitch prices overall, it seems more economical to have a charge for the showers if individuals chose to do so rather than have an overall increased price price. In regards to the music, our quiet hours are 10:30pm - 7:30am however we are available 24/7 if you had felt it was antisocial and we could have acted immediately if you would have contacted us. Unfortunately we cant comment on peoples music choices but we would have absolutely come straight out if we had known you felt that way about it.

Wish we were here longer

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked: The place was fantastic. I headed here with my 4 year old son for a bit of time over the summer holidays. We were greeted warmly by the owners, who showed us around the place. Helped us with our camping plot and fire pit, then even helped us plan our trip. They had animals, outdoor games, play areas, a lovely cafe, bike riding track, beautiful walking area along the river and we even rented a boat for a float up stream. My lad hasn’t stopped talking about it since we got home so we’ll be back next year.
