Powered gravel and cement/asphalt campsite

Liked: Oak farm was very well laid out, friendly staff. Pitches were ok and level. Toilets and showers were good and well laid out and kept clean.

Disliked: The only thing is the main dual carriage way very challenging turning right. Wifi hit and.miss Very bad phone signal

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Andrew for your lovely review, you found lots of things to like so that is lovely. Regarding turning right on the main road, we do advise our customers to turn left back on to the A249 and go up to the next big u-turn. Here you can pull into a separate lane to turn right and wait for a gap where it is much clearer to see as it is level. You can then pull into a separate lane and swing back on to the A249 in the opposite direction and come back on yourself. We have recently made improvements to our wifi but we do find if there is anything going on at the Kent show ground (the weekend you stayed was Paws in the Park) unfortunately our phone signal and wifi does tend to suffer a bit. We apologise for this but hope that it will not put you off from staying again. The Oak ViewTeam.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The campsite was clean and well set out. Our grass tent pitch was at the back behind some trees and not too close to anyone else. We were able to tie the dog to a tree on a long lead. The shower block was extremely clean and there was plenty of hot water. We loved the fact that there were 4 individual rooms with showers in the ladies side and assume there were the same in the men's. Having a washing machine and tumble dryer was handy as it rained alot! The staff were friendly and very helpful and had answers for any questions we had. There was plenty of car parking available. We will definitely be back next year.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for taking time to leave us a lovely review Elizabeth. Unfortunately we couldn't give you the nice weather but we are glad that you were happy with everything else. Regarding your comments on the shower rooms, yes, the mens are the same, 4 individual rooms except round the opposite way. The washing machine and tumble dryer are the only things that you have to pay for here. We always have bags of change made up in the reception which can be exchanged for a note or put or customer can use their card. They are large machines so you can get quite a big load in and you don't have to add washing liquid or fabric conditioner, this is loaded in big drums at the back. Sometimes our customers use them to do their washing before they go so they don't have to do it when they get home! It's handy to know that they are there should they be needed and we are more than happy to show our customers how to use them. We look forward to seeing you again next year! The Oak View Team.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Lovely well kept site with good clean facilities 😊 great staff who were friendly and available 24/7 Good WiFi

Disliked: If I had to be picky The closeness of the pitches

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Amy for your review. We are pleased that you found the WiFi to be good, we have recently made improvements to that. As regards the closeness of the pitches, they are regularly measured out to the legal requirements with the appropriate fire breaks. Unfortunately, we did have a problem the weekend that you stayed with people refusing to put their cars up in one of our 2 car parks. This is why we ask our customers to do this, if everybody keeps their cars on their pitches, not only does the park look like a car park, there is less room for the children to play. There is also the risk of your car being damaged by footballs etc. This weekend was also one of our our busiest weekends of the year due to the children being off of school, and we are finding every year people are bringing more and more equipment with them apart from their main unit. We would love to see you again, perhaps when the children are back at school and we are a bit quieter. The Oak View Team.

Liked: Fish n chip van on Saturday Walking in the woods next door (we had a dog with us) Shower and toilet facilities Very friendly

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We like the Fish and Chip van too. 😊. Just Eat and Deliveroo will also deliver to the barrier so another option for something yummy or even little bits of shopping if you don't want to go off site. We do have a dog walking are at the bottom of the park, some nice woods with plenty of shade for our furry friends when it's hot. Dogs do have to be kept on the lead in the park but they can be let off for a run there. We are glad that you were happy and would love to see you again. The Oak View Team.

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
