  • Peaceful site surrounded by woods filled with wildlife
  • A short drive from Shanklin and Sandown Bay
  • Heated outdoor pool on site in summer months
This is such a pretty site – tucked in a quiet glen beside an unruffled duck pond, and embraced by bluebell woods full of red squirrels, badgers and woodpeckers – that you may never want to leave this peaceful little wildlife haven… But when you do manage to drag yourself away from Ninham Country Holidays, it’s just a short ride through gorgeous countryside to the safe, sandy beaches Shanklin and Sandown Bay. The Orchard pitching area has spacious, level landscaped pitches divided by hedging and mature specimen trees. Guests have access to modern bathroom facilities, with renewable technologies such as solar water heating and rainwater harvested flushing toilets. There's also an outdoor heated swimming pool at this park (open late May to early September, and operated on a regulated booking system). TV and games rooms are also on hand for keeping the kids busy in mid and high-season periods. A firm emphasis is placed on being nature-friendly, and all guests are expected to adhere to a strict recycling policy and the countryside code. Please note: well-behaved dogs are accepted for most of the year, but not during the school summer holidays. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on site.

Orchard primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Clean and well kept facilities. Plenty of space and well maintained pitches. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location within walking distance of large supermarket and Sandown beach. Once on site far enough to be in countryside/natural surroundings. Would definitely stay here again.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Excellent location, lovely campsite . Amazing shower/toilet block , always keep extremely clean . Very quiet at night .

Disliked I would have gave this campsite 10 stars but unfortunately I have had to mark it down slightly due to the field next to the campsite having what I can only imagine as a combine harvester doing its thing at 4:30am on the last 2 nights . So loud it woke the family and we had no chance of getting back to sleep as it went on for hours . Hopefully this was a one off and we were unlucky with the timing . I would book again .

Orchard powered grass trailer tent or tent campsite (XL)

Liked Everything. It was clean, well kept and just an amazing site and the pool is brill to have too.
The staff are really friendly and welcoming.
The pitches are really large, there’s lots of toilets and showers.
It’s 25min walk from the beach and shorter time walk to the shops.
There’s loads of walk/bike paths leading from the site.
It says it all when a family said they have been coming to the site for ten years in a row and we will be returning next year for longer, already planning it all now and we have just got back.

4000 letters is not enough to praise the site, just go and see for yourself

VW powered grass campervan campsite

Liked On arrival the reception staff were very friendly and gave lots of advice.
The pitch size was very large .
The toilets were very clean and lots of showers and toilets.
The camp was close to shops and pubs.

Disliked Some of the showers did not have seats or a bench. The water from other showers passed by which meant floor was wet and sometimes clothing got wet due to nowhere to sit to put on bottoms.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Staff allocated the perfect pitch for us, when I added our requirements in the booking. They were helpful during our stay. Facilities are well kept and cleanliness is A+

Disliked Booking slots for the swimming pool, I suppose for health and safety requirements without a life guard.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked From arrival at the Reception to departure from the campsite, all staff were friendly, helpful, and engaging. The facilities were excellent. The layout of the campsite was excellent. Showers, toilets and the washing machine room were always kept clean and tidy. The pitch site was ideal. For a couple camping for the first time without the younger camping children, it was ideal. We will return.

Local attractions

The plentiful cycle tracks and footpaths mean it’s easy to start exploring the Isle of Wight’s diverse terrain of hills, woodland and white cliffs framing golden beaches. Not for nothing is this called the Garden Isle: Mediterranean plants thrive in the mild climate, and visitors can expect to spot a wide range of wildlife around and about. It’s no wonder Queen Victoria and her brood decamped here so frequently from smelly London (visitors can check out their seaside digs at Osborne House). Natural attractions aside, the island offers great watersports from its lovely beaches, as well as all manner of other athletic activities, and sights to suit all tastes. Culture vultures should try Carisbrooke Castle or one of the many museums, dinosaur hunters can track down the great beasts that used to roam the shores, fledgling zoologists will enjoy the many animal-based attractions, and that’s before we even get started on the scenic steam railway, glorious botanic gardens or rip-roaring theme parks…
