Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked: Large pitch with plenty of space, a well stocked shop and a cafe catering for all needs. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Toilets and showers very clean and maintained to a good standard. Good facilities for dogs with a well marked site walk and more locally.

Disliked: Noisy presumably drunken neibours arguing. This is no reflection on the staff as is was very late in the night. Paid for Wifi to a third party company had one bar at best even by the shop two or three bars as it kept dropping out had to use 4g. When paying for a service to aid your travel plans this fell short.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked: Showers and toilets were good

Disliked: Was very tired, waste unit and chemical disposal out of order, shop closed at 4:00 pm so if needed supplies having been out not available. Would suggest staggered opening. Cafe not open in the evening.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (premium)

Liked: Toilets were clean and looked after.

Disliked: Full of seasonal pitches and a lot of Irish families who are very loud, foul mouthed and the children left to run around how they like. On the Saturday night the said families came back to the sight very drunk and then started to shout and then ended up fighting. I would give this place a miss and would never go there again. Also the chemical waste was broken and had to empty into a manhole on the floor which wasn't ideal.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (premium)

Liked: Cafe on site, good size pitch, location for new forest and nice little towns

Disliked: Cafe, always seemed to run out of stiff, eg, asked for iced coffee, no ice. Worst part was on site residents from Ireland, I was next to a few families, Motorhome had air conditioning on all time, in l night, very noisy, kids were f’ing all the time, I came back after day out, found one in my awning, constant load talking, non stop, Saturday night loads of them came home drunk at 1 on morning and fights and loads arguments went on for 1.5 hours, one had a black eye in morning, owners and warden did nothing . Luckily touring weekends they were out working, but weekends and morning and night a nightmare. Pity it could be nice, definitely will not be back, albeit good location,.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (premium)

Liked: Lovely part of the country. Could be wonderful but alas…

Disliked: Caravan dealer disappointing. Couple of young families appeared to be living on site and running a laundry buisiness. Constant use of washing machines and piles of clothes on top machines. Vehicles rushing out at 06.30. Didn’t feel totally safe so never even put up awning. Chemical waste not operating when we arrived and no attempt to fix while we were there. Needed to lift m/hole cover. Hairdryer had been pulled of cable and cable ends taped up. We did not complete our stay. Site generally uncared for on our side, lack of maintenance.

Local attractions

Once the kids have cuddled Peppa Pig at Paultons Park (20 minutes' drive), flock towards other animal-themed activities nearby such as Longdown Activity Farm (15 minutes) where families gather to watch the Friesian cows being milked, groom the ponies and feed the baby goats. Kids can’t get enough of creatures? Marwell Zoo houses more than 200 rare species, from tigers and snow leopards to rhinos and hippos, and the Hawk Conservancy Trust cares for birds in its combined 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadows. Both are around half an hour away. If urban explores are on the agenda, Romsey (15 minutes) is the nearest market town for a wander round the shops, while the promise of a peek at one of Britain’s best cathedrals might be enough to lure you over to the city of Salisbury (25 minutes).
