  • Peaceful back-to-basics site on a riverside farm in Hampshire
  • Basingstoke 20 minutes’ drive; New Forest National Park 50 minutes
  • Dogs welcome; pub 10 minutes' walk away
Ready to embrace a back-to-basics approach? Then you might want to give Little Church Farm Campsite a go. This family-friendly site is located between the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and South Downs National Park, a 20-minute drive from the town of Fleet, in Hampshire. You may wake up in the morning to the sound of farm animals mooing or bleating, but other than that, the site is pleasantly quiet. Country walks abound around here, and you can enjoy them with your four-legged friend, since dogs are welcome at the site. Pitches have been set up with that back-to-basics approach in mind, but guests will have access to portable toilets on site. Or you might want to fish on the River Whitewater at Bramshill (five minutes’ drive; please check with the Farnborough and District Angling Society for tickets and permits). For more fun on the water, Galleon Marine rents out paddleboards and canoes, which you can then sail along the Basingstoke Canal. The nearest pub (10 minutes’ walk) serves traditional British food. If you fancy buying your own provisions for a barbecue, there’s a farm produce store in Hartley Wintney (five minutes). You can also reach this village via a 40-minute walk through RSPB Hazeley Heath, an area of heathland where you might spot nightjars and woodlarks, plus butterflies.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Well kept field with clean toilet, perfect for a night away in camper van. Nice & convenient walk to pub, only 10 minutes through mostly woodland. Friendly owner, came around to welcome & check up on campers.

Disliked: Stayed in similar campsites for slightly cheaper. Just the one toilet, but was quite so not an issue and very clean.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: Peaceful, spacious, fairly level field. Good countryside walks and 2 great pubs nearby (especially The Leather Bottle). Fire pits permitted.

Disliked: Basic field with just one portaloo, two taps and bins.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: Basic field camping with fresh water taps and one portacabin which was spotlessly clean. Rural site in the lovely small village of Mattingley with a ten minute walk through woodland to the pub. Quiet.

Disliked: Distance sound of motorway but didn't spoil our stay. Would go again.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Lovely picturesque site, although by a road it is quiet. The field is large and flat pretty much everywhere which is a massive bonus. And you can camp wherever you like. They are just starting out so very limited facilities (toilet and tap water only) but showers etx coming. Lovely owner. Highly recommended site.

Disliked: Not a lot to complain about!

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: Lovely quiet location. Well drained large field with freedom of choice as to where to pitch. Very friendly and welcoming owners who were extremely helpful re arrival & departure times. Nice clean loo albeit worth noting the facilities at time of writing are limited to a single portaloo & freshwater tap. Can strongly recommend The Leather Bottle pub 1/2 mile up the road. There is a footpath that goes most of the way there accessible from near the church (behind the little school / nursery)

Disliked: The owners were very upfront and said they are working to put showers in but everything takes time. Wasn’t a problem for us and we were fore-warned but I can see some being put off by this.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: The hosts ! Absolutely lovely people, happy to help . They have fire pits to lend and wood offer to help if in need . Great big open field very clean toilet two drinking taps so no queuing! Very close to lots of woodland walks peaceful and beautiful! Very close to rivers and canals. Buy also quick to jump on the motorway . Although no showers the reading services on m5 and Fleet services on m3 both have free showers and are about 10minutes away so I didnt find it a problem at all .
