  • Peaceful camping paddock a mile from the Solent coast
  • Titchfield Abbey 10 minutes' drive; 25 to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
  • Dogs on leads welcome; quiet site with no noise after 10pm
The Paddocks is a peaceful site in the Hampshire countryside, a mile from the splendid Solent coast and within easy reach of national parks, historic cities and pleasant villages and market towns. Located about a mile inland from either Brownwich beach or Titchfield Haven beach, this site is in a secluded setting, surrounded by trees and with greenery all around. It's a quiet, family-friendly place and has a strict noise cut-off of 10pm, so you can be sure of a restful night's sleep. Guests under 18 are welcome but they must be supervised by a responsible adult. Well-behaved dogs are allowed (on leads, please) and you're free to set up a barbecue here (although you must allow ashes to cool and bag them before disposal). There's also a shower block, toilets and a washing-up station. From the site, it's a quick drive or pleasant walk into the centre of the village of Titchfield, a historic spot with several pubs, shops and other local facilities to make your stay at The Paddocks more comfortable. Just to the north of the village is Titchfield Abbey, an English Heritage site with free admission that makes an excellent walk.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Friendly hosts, on-site at all times apparently. Good, hot showers and toilets in basic block. Coffee available in the morning. Popular kids play equipment. Amusing signage!

Disliked: Very busy on the day we were there – struggled to find a good spot, ended up in the middle of the field with many others. Ground extremely hard; pitching tent was a struggle, even with a mallet. Would still stay again though.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Liked: - that we could pitch where we wanted - there were showers and some plumbed in toilets - the play area in the middle of the camp area for the kids to play on was a real hit

Disliked: We had a nice stay, we think the site will be nicer with time as they develop the shower/toilet/washing up area further.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Flat site. Playground in the middle for kids. Near to the beach (short drive)

Disliked: Problems with water pressure. Bank holiday weekend and they took too many people. Long queues for the toilets and showers. Not good with young children!! Water kept cutting out so couldn’t wash our hands or fill up water bottles. So we just packed up and went home. Told owners and they had tried their best but should have accepted so many people! On another weekend I’m sure it would be lovely but not if they don’t have water!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Absolutely fantastic stay! Great communication before we even arrived, quick replies to emails and even got us in for an extra night and a late check in. We were greeted on entry to the site (which is well sign posted and easy to find) and found a beautiful spot to pitch our tent in the big field. Almost too much space to choose from! The Paddock Family are lovely! Extremely friendly people, nothing was too much. The site is SUPER clean and well maintained. The added little extras were a fab too, supplying bin bags, washing up liquid and sponges, shower supplies - it all blew our minds! There was also a marquee set up selling tea, coffee, fire packs and even sweeties 😁 We have already recommended this site and will most definitely be back! There were a few minor issues with water pressure but that was quickly and efficiently rectified! Like we said nothing was too much! We even received a text when the problem was solved!! 5 stars are not enough! See you all again soon! And we hope the little guy is walking by then too 😁

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We had a lovely relaxed weekend camping here. Warm welcome from the Paddocks family who were super friendly & very helpful. Quiet & peaceful location with plenty of pitches to choose from even on bank holiday weekend. Toilets were very clean & well stocked. We enjoyed walking to the beach via the footpaths & loved being able to sit out with our firepit in the evenings. Would def recommend this charming site with a great atmosphere & owners who really cared about their guests stay.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Really peaceful site with a friendly atmosphere. The owners have children so things are really well thought out like the play equipment is in the centre of the field so your children are close enough to keep an eye on but far enough away for you to crack on with camp dinner. Everything was spotless. It's the first time I've ever seen a portable toilet that was clean and stayed clean (they had a couple of portables as well as the main toilet/shower block). The grass and hedges were tidy and well kept. The owners were friendly and welcoming. It's a family site in every sense of the word. They sell logs for evening camp fires as long as you keep the fire off the floor. The site is far enough away from civilisation to get a little peace (not far from a nature reserve) but close enough to be a short drive to the nearest supermarket.

Disliked: They had teething problems with the water supply which you may read about in other reviews. It meant the showers and washing up sink couldn't be used at the same time. But they're passionate about making people happy and making the site a success so they'll have all the issues sorted soon I'm sure.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We had a lovely stay at The Paddocks as a family of 5 with 3 young children. Lots of other children for them to play with, everyone was very friendly and there was a very laid back family run vibe. The campsite seemed to chill out with lots of campfires being lit around 8pm, the site was almost silent by around 10pm with only a small amount of chatter which didn’t disturb our kids while they slept. The loos were basic but always clean. There’s lots to do locally with the site being near both Southampton and Portsmouth, and lots of lovely walks nearby. A really nice long weekend.

Disliked: Heard there were issues with the hot water in the showers so didn’t brave them. But the site made an effort to sort it out.
