Primitive forest floor tent campsite (pet friendly, forest)

Liked: We love camping in the trees, kids have freedom to go off by themselves. The cycle paths are beautiful. Camp fires. We come every year.

Disliked: It’s getting busier so hard to all camp in the same area.

Primitive grass campsite (lake view, no pets)

Liked: Good location, nice walks around the area, clean and nice toilet blocks

Disliked: Multiple people on the campsite were quite racist and abusive towards our group, yes due to a big group there was a bit of noise which we did control, no music was playing, other people were also awake and talking about weren't asked to quite down. If you are non-white family/friends please don't visit, find another place. Pitches where a bit on a slope but manageable.

Powered grass campsite (lake view, no pets)

Liked: Lovely location and woodland, friendly staff, plenty of activities.

Disliked: Shower cubicles would have benefited from a shower curtain and a bench to place clothes on to keep clothes dry.

Primitive grass campsite (lake view, no pets)

Liked: The place itself, cleanliness of toilets, and the staff was good.

Disliked: Location of tents ( even after paying double of what paid by friends who installed their own tents, I was given Trent on an isolated area far from lake ) , size of tent ( you could barely stand in that ) , for a family of 4 it's not the size and quality I expected... I am very disappointed....

Primitive grass campsite (lake view, no pets)

Liked: Beautiful location! We love the trees .

Disliked: Toilets/ showers not very clean. Also family/disabled shower/toilet have gap on the door when closed/locked that anyone can see you taking shower or sitting at the loo as it is opposite the mirror. Not great I had to put some toilet paper in the gaps for privacy.

Local attractions

Several bike tracks start directly from the site, so pack a picnic and head off into the New Forest to find your own adventure – perhaps you might fancy a pedal to the Dorset and Hampshire beaches of Christchurch, Mideford, Southbourne or Highcliffe...? The sands of Bournemouth are about 10 miles away. Around the New Forest, the many places to see include the New Forest Wildlife Park in Southampton, an ancient natural woodland and wildlife haven (look out for otters and owls); the award-winning National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, and Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre at Ringwood. Pipsqeaks have the home of Peppa Pig World at Paultons Family Theme Park 30 minutes away for actively exciting day out, as well as the hands-on activities and indoor and outdoor play areas of Longdown Dairy Farm in Southampton and the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester. Naturally, they might like trekking with a New Forest pony too.
