What customers say

Praised for its New Forest setting, cleanliness, and helpful staff. Guests enjoy roaming ponies and spacious, tree-lined pitches. Facilities are spotless. Convenient location near pubs and transit. Minor train/road noise and occasional muddy spots in rain. Many plan to return.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked We loved it here , unfortunately the weather got a bit too much for us so we had to cut our holiday short. We will definitely be back next year, hopefully with the sunshine .

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Choice of camping pitches - choose your own spot to camp (open grass or in the trees).

Toilet block was clean.

Was overall quiet and peaceful.

Disliked Trainline nearby was fairly noisy in the early morning.

It was difficult to eat outside without the ponies trying to get at the food.

Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Great location to explore the forest by car, cycle or in foot. Next door to a station and decent pub. Beautiful countryside a short walk from the site. Very clean facilities and friendly knowledgeable staff.

Disliked You get a 10% discount in the pub next door but wasn’t told on arrival which apparently they should do. Hardstanding area gets very crowded. Limited shopping onsite but co-op 5 min drive.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely well cared for site. Very welcoming staff, all knowledgeable about the area and the Ponies.

Very close to lots of attractions, 20 mins from lovely sandy beaches and great access to the new forest walks

Disliked The road was a little loud for us we live very rural so it was noticeable for the first few nights.

Bell tent

Liked The bell tent has everything you could need (except a kettle) it was amazing and clean with beautiful views.

Disliked The beds were so hard like sleeping on wooden boards, and futon are on the small size.
Could also be enhanced by some nice outside seating rather than just a picnic bench.

Local attractions

There’s a lot of enjoyment to be found in simply wandering through the woods around here, but if you want a specific place to head for, perhaps try Blackwater Arboretum (10 minutes’ drive), which has a collection of trees from around the world, or Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary (15 minutes), where you’ll be guaranteed to spot the native animals at feeding time. As well as all the wildlife attractions around here, there’s also one where the animals are rather larger than life… younger kids will no doubt love the chance to meet their cartoon favourites in person at Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World (15 minutes), plus the chance to go on various gentle rides. For older children, the gleaming attractions of the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu (15 minutes) may be more suitable. This location on the eastern side of the national park also gives easy access to Southampton (15 minutes) for the SeaCity Museum and Solent Sky aircraft exhibition or boarding ferries for a trip to the Isle of Wight.
