Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked: Located about 10 minutes drive from Rye in the East Sussex countryside, this campsite also had great facilities - a microwave and freezer to 4 showers, the host also showed us around the facilities and talked us through how to get into Rye on local buses (which was just outside the site too). The campsite is very family orientated and relaxing, we stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer. Would recommend this to anyone travelling as a couple or family!

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked: Great welcome, really great facilities, peaceful and spotless. Lovely cross country walk to Rye (50 mins) or suggested cycle route avoiding the main road. The Oak pub up the road is friendly and we enjoyed live music which was unexpected. If you want somewhere to camp in beautiful surroundings with easy access to rye this is perfect. We really loved our stay and cannot recommend the site enough 10/10 👍👍

Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked: What a Gem. Beautiful little site. 2 fields all grass. 1 has steeper slope, pitching is around edges of fields so even when full you have space. Not packed in like sardines which can happen in some campsites. No shop and nothing on site for children to do. Great for familes who love being outside in nature. Remember its a grass field so can get muddy when raining. Great walks and cycle rides around the countryside can even walk to Rye or take the bus, it stops outside campsite. Also bus or car drive to Hastings or Camber if you need to find amusments shops and beach. The 3 showers and 4 toilets were very clean and good tempreture in showers. 3 sinks in washing up area with liquid supplied if you forget yours. Plug socket to charge phone or inflate your bed, great if you not got electric. Nice social place to chat with others while washing up,oh fridge/freezer and microwave too! Lots of lovely unexpected touches. Great surroundings, peace and quite. Although on a main road the traffic noise really was very minimal day or night. Also not a reflection on the site or service recieved. The owners were very helpful, friendly and attentive.

Primitive grass tent campsite (two person)

Liked: Lovely little site. Owner was very friendly and helpful. The site was kept extremely well. Bathrooms and washing up area very clean. I loved the little touches like hand drawn maps explaining how to walk to Rye. And sockets allowing you to charge your phone.

Local attractions

Love long walks or bike rides? Site staff will happily point you towards plenty of places to get those legs going – top picks include the family trails and dedicated mountain bike trails at Bedgebury Forest (half an hour’s drive), gentle strolls around seafront Romney Marsh (25 minutes) and trips to Bewl Water (35 minutes) for walking, cycling, fishing and rowing on the lake. Want more watersports? Spectacular Camber Sands beach (15 minutes’ drive) is a popular place to have a crack at kitesurfing, while the calmer waters around Rye are more suited to windsurfing and paddleboarding. If you’d rather stay dry, Rye’s a fab place for a laidback day bimbling around the castle, museums and antique shops. Other landlubbing days out include the moated medieval Bodiam Castle (20 minutes’ drive), rides on the Northiam Steam Railway (10 minutes) and meeting all sorts of farm animals, birds of prey and butterflies at the Rare Breeds Centre (20 minutes), where you’re highly encouraged to time your visit to coincide with pig racing time.
