  • Peaceful camping on an East Sussex farm meadow near Hailsham
  • The Cuckoo Trail a five-minute walk; Drusillas Park a 15-minute drive
  • Simple pitches with walks, a kids’ play area, pubs and shops close by
It’s all about really peaceful camping at Stone House Farm, located on a meadow near Hailsham in East Sussex. The site borders the Cuckoo Trail – a popular walking and cycling route running from Hampden Park to Heathfield. All the walking and cycling options in the South Downs National Park are just a 10-minute drive away, so this a fabulous spot for families looking for active mini breaks amid nature. Keep the kids entertained on the play areas in Hellingly Community Park (five minutes’ drive) or pack everybody into the car and be off to spend the day splashing around on the beach at Eastbourne (30 minutes). This is a very peaceful place, though, so it would also appeal to older couples looking for somewhere laidback. You can park by your pitch, so you don’t have to worry about carrying camping gear across the fields, and barbecues are allowed by your tent – you can pick up supplies in Horsebridge (five minutes), where there are a couple of takeaways and pubs serving food if you don’t feel like sparking up the fire. If you’d like to abandon the car for a couple of days, you can catch buses to Hailsham (cinema and leisure centre) and Tunbridge Wells (shopping at The Pantiles) from the bus stop 10 minutes’ walk away. Back to basics amenities include portable toilets and a cold water tap by the house.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This is a wonderful campground! It’s peaceful, far from main roads, spacious level pitches in a large field, and is exactly as described. It’s just a few metres from the Cuckoo Trail with tranquil cycling and walking through lovely East Sussex woodland. A delightful village is just a stroll from the campground, and Seven Sisters hiking is a short drive away. All this, plus a very friendly and helpful host in the adjacent farm house.
Thank you for a nice stay. I’ll be back!

From the manager: We always have a Waste Bin on site. This was in place when Stefan stayed with us, but he must have overlooked it.

Liked Peace & quiet.
Low-key but pleasant touches - bottles of water left out for campers to save a walk to the tap, candle lantern by the toilet
