  • Peaceful family camping on an organic farm in Polegate, East Sussex
  • Drusillas Park five minutes’ drive; Rathfinny Wine Estate 10 minutes
  • Spectacular South Downs views; shop five minutes’ walk; pub 15 minutes
Set on an organic farm in the quiet hamlet of Polegate in East Sussex, Alciston Court Farm is a peaceful spot with lovely rural views up to South Downs and birdsong as your companion. Restock on essentials from the local convenience store (five minutes’ walk), and when you fancy a change of scenery, the nearest pub (15 minutes) has a good line in fine wines and bistro-style food. For more dining choices, head to Alfriston (10 minutes’ drive or 40 minutes’ stroll). The kids will probably thank you forever for the chance to stay here, as the site is five minutes’ drive from Drusillas Park, a winning combination of zoo and family-centric theme park. Other kid-friendly days out include Seaford Beach (15 minutes’ drive), but if you’re looking for a bit of grown-up leisure time, head to Rathfinny Wine Estate (10 minutes) to tour the vineyard and taste some vintages.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Everything. Compost loo! Pheasants. Nature and wildlife - loads of pheasants, owls, kestrels and much more. Away from humans. Outstanding views and scenery. Friendly couple who own it and very helpful.

Disliked: Nothing

Shepherd's hut

Liked: We had lovely stay! Set in an incredibly beautiful location with acres of land to explore. The hut had everything we required and more! and Vicki was extremely helpful for any need we had, from places to go to a beautiful breakfast hamper in the morning with the freshest of produce. So weather you are looking to escape the real world for a while and sit back and enjoy a picturesque view or a short walk to a lovely pub this is the place for you. Will be sure to book again!

From the manager: Hello, thanks for your review. The camp is just a wild camp, so yea just a private large field with beautiful views. There is no shower advertised, just a compost toilet and a bowser with water . No drinking water supplied as advertised also. The beauty of this camp is it’s quite, private tranquil and beautiful
