  • On 30 acres of landscaped park, with views over the Ribble Valley
  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View keeps a considerate eye on many little (free) touches to jazz up your break: the indoor heated pool, the table tennis, the paddling pool for little squirts and the entertainment four nights a week in high season won’t cost you a red cent. Even more enticing for exhausted parents, you can send the heirs and heiresses off to the free kids’ club while you catch a match on Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers (also free), a covered dishwashing area, launderette and a food shop, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: The play area right across from our camping pod was perfect for my daughter to go play and make friends with. The pool was a good size and clean. The staff were very friendly a credit to their caravan site . Club house and entertainment was good for the kids and the adults. Wouldn’t say it’s for someone wanting a peaceful holiday .

Disliked: No running water in the camping pods, even though there is a sink with a tap fitted. When I went to reception thinking it was broken, they said use the communal toilets for water. That they don’t do a water supply to the pods. The tap and sink is basically a waist of space really, as it is cramped enough. Bit inconvenient to go backwards and forwards to wash our hands etc. Also no curtains on back window so had to use a pillow propped up at night and for morning . Check out was at 10am so rushing round to get packed up out on a Sunday morning even though we checked in 4pm the au before , just felt it was all abit rushed .

Disliked: Card only site/ no cash! No shop or food on site (takeouts 5 mins drive away) Chaos finding a space as all were taken, however staff very helpful and sorted straight away.

Liked: Good facilities to keep the teens occupied

Disliked: No electric when paid for electric pitch - Asked to pitch in any free pitch between 33 and 50. Only one pitch big enough as others had cars parked on empty pitches or pitches over the boundaries. Once we had awning up and everything unpacked we realised the EHU wasn't working. Reported to reception and although we had pitched where told we had parked in a seasonal pitch and had to pay extra to use the EHU. We had already paid for EHU. Also loos not great, no soap and lack of loo roll. No shop as advertised

Liked: Bar area, swimming pool and the tribute act.

Disliked: Men's toilet filthy with excrement on some of the seats. Few toilets blocked. No soap to wash your hands and toilet paper all over the floor. Touring pitch on a slant with overgrown weeds and no view. Bins are overflowing with rubbish. Site looks dilapidated in lots of areas. Poor value at £40 per night.

Liked: Blonde lady on reception really friendly and helpful, kids enjoyed swimming pool

Disliked: Site not well maintained, bathrooms dirty, covered in toilet paper, we were put in a seasonal pitch because apparently pitch up had overbooked them. This was a field just off site, with a derelict van in, was overgrown and we had to trek down a hill into the main site to the nearest toilet block, which during the night, the path wasn't lit, and was slippy. I have issues with my knee and being this far away from any facilities wasn't ideal . Also no onsite shop as advertised, there is also no cafe so have to go off site for everything.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
