What customers say

Spacious, peaceful spots with lovely countryside and river views. Generally clean facilities with good hot water, though sometimes limited at peak times. Fires allowed. Great value & relaxed vibe for exploring the Lake District. Access roads can be narrow.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Flat field with well mown grass, lots of room to space out. Fire pits to use and logs to purchase at £4 a net. The wash block was kept really clean and serviced through out the day. The hot water can run out in the 3 field showers, late morning, but there are more showers up at the house that have plenty of hot water. The camp site is bordered by a river where we spotted kingfishers, there is a really nice river walk. We hiked locally and the views are stunning. The local village is just under 3 miles away so a bit too far for a pub walk..

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Only a short drive from the M6 so may be useful for some people as a brief stopover although there's nowhere to get food or groceries in walking distance. Signal is good, the toilets and showers were clean and in great condition, the owners both seemed friendly and there to help if needed.

Disliked Although i was only here 1 night and it was fairly quiet, at busier times i think there may be a struggle for showers as the site is quite large but there is only 2 available. Not an issue for me doing a 1 nighter but just making others aware.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. There are more showers and toilets by the house sorry you wasn't made aware of them. We hope to see you again thank you.

Although a few dislikes, I would still recommend this site

Powered grass campsite

Liked The most peaceful site we've stayed on so far, no traffic noise, just birds.
Great size pitch for our camper.
Lovely area.

Disliked Only 1 washing up area.
Not enough toilets/ showers as the site got busier.
Not the owners fault but there was some dog mess at the edge of our pitch.
Could do with passing places on the approach lane, we had to reverse the camper quite a way back as we were leaving (1st time in a week)
I would still recommend this site.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The space. Toilets and showers were nice and hot water but only lasted for about 15-20 minutes - fine for a normal shower but had I washed my hair I would’ve needed a bit longer! Really great space and beautiful farm/countryside.
I think having a fire could be a bit cheaper. Also no signs for drinking water, but apparently all cold taps were drinking water which I had to find out the next day. Everything was great and really nice campsite, would recommend going there. Very peaceful and pleasant

Powered grass campsite

Liked Absolutely stunning views, loved the fact it was very spacious and you had plenty of room per pitch. Didn’t feel on top of each other at all.

Disliked Potentially could have done with more washing up sinks as only 1. The 3rd toilet door didn’t lock very well and one toilets like weren’t working. My only criticism is the cubicles did feel a little dirty.

I know it all depends on the pitch/ campsite but more open water taps would have been great.
