  • Friendly Lake District fell farm site with far-reaching views
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Ullswater and Pooley Bridge
  • Walkers' paradise in the Eden Valley
Looking to go back to basics and experience the simple pleasures of wild camping? Setterah Park Farm Campsite is a welcoming Lake District campsite a mile and a half from the quiet village of Askham. Set on a traditional fell farm, this Cumbrian site has spectacular views over the local landscape and makes a great starting point for treks out to Helton Fell, Ullswater, Pooley Bridge and other remote spots. This private site is located at the end of a quiet track, where the friendly owners live in a traditional Lakeland farmhouse – don't hesitate to get in touch with them for tips and advice about the local area or to buy some fresh eggs and the farm's own honey. For more on the food front, it's roughly a half-hour walk down into the village, where there's a local shop and pubs to try out, as well as an outdoor pool. Similarly close is Lowther Castle and Gardens, a large country estate that you may well want to visit during your stay here, and where you can hire bikes for more extensive exploration or take the kids to the large adventure playground. If you're in the mood for roving beyond the Lowther Valley, it's a straightforward 15-minute drive to Penrith, a market town with several supermarkets, a local butcher and a deli.

Liked: Great site hot showers real toilets. Wonderful views and only ten mins drive away from everything you need.

Disliked: Very sloped site. Never saw the owners to purchase some honey which we would have liked.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: camping the owners were very nice and even let us take our time taking our large tent down at our own pace..its very basic but it does say that before you book but the weekend was very relaxing and only a short drive away from Pooley Bridge and ullswater...

Disliked: Only 2 power point sockets was a bit hard when 4 people wanting to charge phones haha this means dont take your older adult children with you!!!🤣 Perfect for us tho

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We've stayed here several times in previous years, this being our first this year. We love the basics of the camping, no cars on the field, chickens roaming, but also there's flushing toilets and hot showers as well as a dish washing area with the use of kettles for hot water. During our stay 4 buffalo were unloaded into the field next to the site, great entertainment

Disliked: The field isn't very flat so you can end up camping on an incline
