Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nice place, lots of space for pitches, with and without power. Easy to contact the staff, even if their reception isn't manned.
The rubbish sorting and recycling area.

Disliked Not a dislike per se, however I would recommend that if you're struggling with noisy campers, do get in touch with the reception/ number provided to have a chat, otherwise it can make for a miserable night!
Please also be mindful when pitching and parking - if there is a tent up, leave appropriate space next to it for their car!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked good pitches with a lot of space, warm showers and fantastic scenery

Disliked noise curfew of 10:30 wasn't really enforced, we had multiple groups being loud well into midnight which was a bit frustrating. showers were a bit low on pressure but usable.

Buttermere and Loweswater are the nearest lakes to Whinfell Farm Camp Site, each with accompanying villages and circular lakeside walks. Loweswater is managed by the National Trust and has rowing boats available for hire. On land, the western lakes area is as full of things to do as its more central counterparts, with activities such as golfing, cycling, shoreline horse rides and hiking around the Roman heritage, valleys and peaks of Eskdale, Wasdale and the coastal village of Ravenglass. Also take time for an afternoon or day among the mountain bike trails and forest walks of Whinlatter, named by the Forestry Commission as England's only true mountain forest. It's one of the Super 6 mountain bike trails and has the longest purpose-built MTB track in the whole Lake District; find out more in the Whinlatter Forestry Centre. Keswick's Honister Slate Mine is the last working slate mine in England and is open to visitors who come for one of the several tours and to climb to the top of the mountain using the original miners' path. And if it's sea you want to see, the Cumbrian coastline at Allonby is about 12 miles away.
