  • Peaceful single shepherd's hut at a Cumbria farm with lovely views
  • Appleby-in-Westmorland 10 minutes' drive; Penrith 25 minutes
  • On the edge of the North Pennines National Landscape
If you’ve ever thought it might be nice to wake up to views over the Pennines… well, Pennine View Shepherd's Hut should suit you rather well. As the name suggests, this is a place where you'll be treated to views of the North Pennines National Landscape from morning through till night – and as there's just the one shepherd's hut at this Cumbria farm tucked away on the western edge of the mountains you should have plenty of peace and space to soak up that scenery whenever you like. A barbecue area, firepit and outdoor seating have all been provided, and you can take a little wander along the stream that runs past. The interior of this purpose-built hut is just as lovely as its surroundings – it’s been kitted out with a well-equipped kitchen (with fridge, microwave, hob, toaster and kettle) and an ensuite bathroom (with towels provided) as well as a cosy double bed, a TV and a heater. Stare at those views all day long if you like – but there's a lot more to do around here, starting with a trip to the nearest town, Appleby-in-Westmorland (10 minutes' drive), which has shops, pubs and paths along the banks of the River Eden. Lots more walks and outdoor activities can be had in the North Pennines, and you'll also be in prime position for getting out into the northern part of the Yorkshire Dales or the eastern stretches of the Lake District.
