Power optional grass tent campsite
Liked: Excellent grass pitch; water tap is just next to the tent. Toilet is clean, and there is a hair dryer in the toilet. There is a freezer next to the pitch. Table and bench are available on every pitch.
Disliked: Rubbish skip is quite far away from the pitch. It is better to have one next to the toilet. First night was Thursday, not too many people were camping, nice and quiet after 10pm. But the second night was Friday, many campers arrived, some of them were very noisy after 12am while there is a rule requiring everyone to be quiet after 10pm. Had sent message to the owner, but not much improved. My children were difficult to fall asleep. There is no bike to hire.

From the manager: Aloha, Thanks for the feedback. In response: 1. The waste skip is at the bottom of the site so everyone can use it as they leave the site. Also, we used to have bins at the top of the site, but when they were set on fire for the third time and were overloaded with discarded camping kit/nappies, we gave up and had a steel skip at the bottom that we can monitor and won't cause a nuisance. Further still, there would be safety/nuisance concerns about an 8 tonne lorry emptying the skip near the camping field whilst there were campers on site. 2. You messaged me on Friday night that a group were being noisy at round 11pm. I went up and the noise stopped. I messaged you to confirm the same and requested that you let me know if there were any further issues. You didn't. As fun as it would be to spy on campers all night (imagine full military attire like in Commando), it's just not cricket. 3. I can't help it if your children are difficult. 4. We removed our bike hire facility some time ago as there was little demand for it. We did recommend a bike hire company down the road. Hope you find somewhere better to your liking next time. Cheers, D

Liked: The scenery was pretty and the toilet block was clean and adequate although needed heat and paper towels to dry hands. Didn’t use shower as too cold in there, so preferred caravan. Electric was fine on lower settings in van.
Disliked: Touring pitches with electric were very narrow and as grass was so muddy, we needed wider hard standing to walk from caravan doorway to the path. There was no where to park your car near to your caravan and even if the weather had been kinder there wasn’t enough space as the pitches were too close. The price we paid per night was excessive for the facilities on offer.

From the manager: Hi Alison, Thanks for the review. In response: 1. The toilet block has two small electric heaters to take the chill off, but they don't do much unless the doors stay shut (hence why they're on closers). The only other thing we could do is add an entrance hall, which to be honest isn't high on our list of priorities as you're the only person the make the point in 5 years of trading. 2.We've already widened half of our tourer pitches to up to 6m. We'll do the rest as we go along and the ground dries up this month. The remaining smaller pitches are wide enough to have a walkway if you park your caravan to the left. It's a moot point really as they will be widened shortly. 3. What other facilities would you like to see? Our rates are comparable with the sites around us, but we appreciate we are new to this game (relatively) and will keep on adding things to the site. Dealing with burst water mains, incorrectly installed electrics and a very wet winter has been our priority over the last 12 months. We've also added a small licensed shop and take away service this month. 4. Not sure if birds are interested in our tariffs. All the best. David.

Liked: Was exactly as described well maintained pitches and facilities. Friendly owner.
Disliked: Extremely tight to be able to get caravans in as posts have been put up to not allow a wide enough turning point to get the caravans in the pitches. Fields were also very boggy and could do with some drainage systems as you cannot walk around.

From the manager: Aloha, Thanks for the review. In response: 1. The posts are to stop tourers/carvans driving straight onto a very wet field and getting stuck/making a mess. They have worked well. It has been a very wet winter and we'd had another 20mm of rain that week. 2. As per the arrival email, we suggested that we put your carvan on the pitch for you using the tractor, which we did for several customers. I'm assumng you ignored our suggstion. You will also have noticed that we're in the process of widening all the tourer pitches up to 6m (only 3 to go). 3. The grass was very wet yes. Sadly, we live in a high clay area and if can go up to 4 feet deep ( I dug a soakaway yesterday). Conventional drainage (land drains) does not work when surrounded by 4 feet of clay, but we do what we can. In drier weather, there's no problem. We are however creating a top car park to stop campers driving on the grass and creating more mud. Cheers, D
