  • Peaceful adults-only site on the edge of a South Yorkshire market town
  • A 20-minute drive from Doncaster and 40 minutes from Sheffield
  • Dog-friendly site; pubs and shops five minutes' drive away
Searching for a slice of peace in the countryside? Join an adults-only site in the town of Bawtry in rural South Yorkshire. At Bawtry Caravan and Camping, you can kick back with a good book under the blanket of branches and bring your dog along to share in its quiet open spaces. A 20-minute drive from Doncaster and 40 minutes from Sheffield, urban time is not out of the reach, but you can still unwind away from the crowds and watch nature play out before your eyes. Leave the car behind if you wish… there are several bus routes within walking distance, which will whisk you away to Doncaster, wildlife parks and walking routes. A day of golf or fishing take your fancy? There’s an 18-hole golf course five minutes’ drive away, and footpaths from the site that will take you to local fishing lakes within 30 minutes’ walk. Back on site, the launderette and toilets should keep you feeling fresh, and when you're done with time out and about, you can get down to exploring the expanses of woodlands on site. But don't forget, you’re only as good as your supply of snacks… so pick up nibbles from the shops in Bawtry, within five minutes’ drive, ready for a barbecue back on site – or leave the hard work down to the chefs in its several restaurants. Handily, there are several pubs around too, including some with fenced pub gardens for dogs and kids to play in safety.

Local attractions

Take your pick from splash-worthy waterslides and a spin on the ice rink at Doncaster Dome (15 minutes’ drive). Then, walk your way around indoor market stalls and Victorian shopping centres, stroll past the River Don, and peer through the stained-glass windows at Doncaster Minster (20 minutes). Just outside the town, South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum (20 minutes) in Doncaster proves a popular pick for aviation enthusiasts. Once you’re done with the town time, how about a walk-through wildlife escapade? Yorkshire Wildlife Park (10 minutes) is the place for a strolling safari – you'll meet wallabies, polar bears and tigers on your route. If you’re still longing for more action, there’s a considerable dose on hand at Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park Resort (30 minutes), and it's just next door to the watersports, fishing and cycling mecca at Rother Valley Country Park (30 minutes). Closer to the site, you can expend any extra energy at Bawtry Paintball Fields (five minutes).

Liked: Loved the peacefulness of the site, had one of the best shower and toilet blocks I have ever seen. First time ever that I haven’t used my sink in the caravan to wash dishes. Plenty of hot water throughout.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Clean and modern toilet and shower block with indoor washing area,

Disliked: Extensive destruction of the adjacent woodland which has left the site where the pitches are very open and exposed and is not visually attractive at the current time. Hopefully in five years time when new alternative boundary planting and landscaping has been carried out this will address the current issue.

Liked: Great site, quite compact but in a really nice setting. Facilities are of high standard and very well maintained / cleaned The forrest walk is no more, but the reasoning behind this makes sense. you can still walk through and up along the golf course so no bother.

Liked: Toilets & showers very clean

Disliked: Most of the trees have been cut down to make way for static caravans. The scenery was lovely & this was our 3rd stay but unfortunately may have been the last. As it just isn't the same the female warden has left & now they have a 70 yr old man in her place. Wasn't even greeted on arrival just as well our friends were already there to let us in the park. The radiators in the shower block were repeatedly turned off, I'm sorry but just because the park isn't very busy doesn't mean the few of us there should have to be cold when using the loo or showers! Especially when we've paid a fortune to stay & have to pay extra for electric. Also very unprofessional to hear the park owners son shouting & arguing with the elderly warden.

Liked: This is a lovely site with great walks. Bawtry is within walking distance. Nature reserve across the road is great for walking the dog. Friendly staff who met us and showed us where everything was. Everything well maintained and clean. Would recommend

Disliked: I would prefer to pay more for the pitch and the electric be included rather than electric top up system.
