  • Dog-friendly glampsite with direct access to the Trans Pennine Trail
  • A five-minute drive from Langsett Reservoir in the Peak District
  • Within 15 minutes’ drive of shops and cafés in Holmfirth and Penistone
Small, family-run and intimate, BeesKnees Glamping is a site where you're encouraged to take things at your own pace. While it’s all very easy to spend days soaking up the air in the Yorkshire countryside, you might not be able to resist the temptation of the local walking and cycling routes, especially when the site has direct access to the Trans Pennine Trail. Next to the river Don and just outside of the Peak District National Park, this is a peaceful, rural setting. However, it’s still well within reach of busier scenes at the market towns of Holmfirth and Penistone (both within a 15-minute drive). In Holmfirth, browse the restaurants, cafés, bars and music venues. Penistone is a traditional town with convenient supermarkets, as well as cafés, restaurants and shops. There’s so much to do, whether it’s fine dining, visiting old-fashioned cinemas, walking the dog, wild swimming or visiting local breweries and vineyards. Langsett Reservoir, five minutes’ drive away, is a stunning spot with routes for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. If you decide to head out on the Trans Pennine Trail, the local section is along an old railway line. The traffic-free path is well-maintained and gently rising, so kids should find it easy enough to use. It passes by stunning countryside and moors with picnic spots, local sculptures and wildlife habitats. After a morning on the trail, it might be worth taking a detour to the ice cream parlour near Ingbirchworth (10 minutes’ drive); this venue also does full English breakfasts. Otherwise, schedule yourself a session in the on-site hot tub. The on-site facilities, which include a shower, toilet and an outdoor sink, are housed in a converted stable – how lovely. Children can make use of the play tent, which has games for all ages.
