  • Peaceful and well-maintained site for the over-45s
  • A 10-minute drive from central Doncaster and an hour from York
  • Safe park with CCTV, security gates and an on-site manager
Laidback breaks with like-minded guests are what's in store at Sunnyview Touring Park, a quiet and well-kept South Yorkshire site designed with folk over 45 in mind. Head here for some outdoorsy times in a peaceful and grownup environment, far from noisy groups of kids. Sunnyview Touring Park is a secure, gated site with reassuring features like CCTV and an on-site manager for extra peace of mind. The site's flat and well-maintained grounds also have smooth brick driveways to make your arrival and departure that little bit easier, and the modern and spacious toilet and shower facilities are also top-notch. While green and grassy, this South Yorkshire site is far from remote – driving up to Doncaster (10 minutes' drive) and its shops and restaurants is a breeze, with York (an hour) and other popular spots also well within range. Also handy is access to motorways like the M1 and M18, both of which can be reached within a few minutes' drive. Those keen on self-grilled grub can bring a barbecue here, but please make sure to keep it safely off the ground. Other dinner options include the local pub and a well-stocked supermarket, both of which are a 20-minute walk away. This site doesn't cater for kids, but some smaller travellers (namely those of the canine variety) are welcome to join in on trips to this pet-friendly park.

Local attractions

There’s a lot in the local area that could lead you to spending quite some time dawdling around Doncaster. Start off at the Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery (10 minutes’ drive), an informative attraction with displays on fine art, archaeology and local history. Those wanting to learn more about the lay of the land can also visit Conisbrough Castle (10 minutes), whose tall turrets are said to have inspired renowned writer Sir Walter Scott. Similarly easy to reach is Crookhill Park Golf Course (10 minutes), an 18-hole club set amid splendid South Yorkshire countryside. Like your landscapes a little less managed? The Dearne Valley, a short drive away to the west, has two RSPB-run nature reserves – Adwick Washland (20 minutes) and Old Moor (25 minutes) – that should keep birders, wildlife photographers and walkers satisfied. Sunnyview Touring Park is also within an hour of handsome North Yorkshire spots like York, where the Gothic minster, topsy-turvy Shambles and National Railway Museum are likely to leave various types chuffed. The bubbly hub that is Harrogate (an hour), a spa town, is also well worth the journey.

Liked: A very nice quiet site. On the day we arrived there had been a lot of rain locally. And the manager upgraded our pitch to hard standing so we didn’t get our vehicle stuck at no extra charge. All the staff I met were very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The only problem with this site is the access road is a bit tight for a 7 metre Motorhome

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Friendly greeting. Water tap by the pitch. Small site.

Disliked: The showers lacked privacy, in a tiny room. No privacy at all if you wanted to use the hand basin. No hand towels or dryers, just a roll of kitchen towels. The hard pitch was inadequately compacted bitumen, which was impossible not to tread into the van - very messy. Constant traffic noise from the adjacent motorway made sleep difficult. So many permanent vans - they can be intimidating.

Liked: Very clean and tidy site. Friendly staff when we arrived. The long term residents were also very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Only down side is the Grey waste disposal is not accessible with the motorhome unless you have a extra long drain hose. The noise from the close by A1 is quiet loud but once in the Moho with the TV / Radio on you do not hear it.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Perfect location for a stop over en route to Scotland. Immaculately kept site. Very peaceful. Shower blocks small but clean. Owner very friendly. Dog friendly and footpath across the fields right outside site entrance. Some motorway noise from A1 nearby but far enough away to be background hum rather than hearing every car. Really lovely site will definitely return.

Disliked: Nothing.
