Liked: Such a fab site. Loved the bar onsite great choice for a cheeky beverage; staff were friendly too. Toilets and showers were clean and loved the signs on the loo doors! Pitches were level and loved the little flower beds next to them

Disliked: Bins are a bit far from pitches so just kept it till we left in the morning No wifi available but if you want to switch off then it’s a positive

Liked: Unusual toilets which reminded me of the TV program MASH being wooden cubicles. The toilets had a cold/hot tap into what should have been the Cistern, with a soap dispenser on the left wooden side of the cubicle with large blue paper roll for drying your hands on the other. The showers were wooden too but didn’t try those.

Disliked: No staff on site just a schedule for the day showing your name and pitch number.

Disliked: The open, luke warm showers and toilets weren't for us. Might have been ok in August, but too cold to shower in a dark, drafty, open construction. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. Really did not like the 'renewable energy' policy of switching the (6 amp) electricity off every night between 11.30pm and 6.30am whilst still charging £27 per night. You can pay a few more pounds a night and have luxury (or at least 24hr electricity). It is probably great for basic tented campers, but it wasn't for us. This is not a good advocate for the use of renewable energy, in fact it emphasises the negatives. We were glad to move on after 3 cold nights.

Local attractions

Set your compass towards the sea… whether it’s walking and cycling around Seaton Point (10 minutes’ drive), watersports down at Alnmouth beach (10 minutes) or dipping in and out of the sand dunes at Warkworth beach (15 minutes), there are plenty of coastal landscapes to choose from around here. As for the beach towns, Craster (15 minutes) is all about the kippers and art galleries. If you plan ahead, you could book a fishing trip from the harbour – or make a day of it and check out the National Trust’s Dunstanburgh Castle (15 minutes) nearby to see what life used to be like in the 14th-century fortress. Another commanding castle resides in Alnwick (10 minutes), but this town is also a sure bet for browsing bookshelves in the bookshops, ambling around gardens or rolling onto the steam railway. Those of you who fancy another beach day might want to go to its sandy shore or continue the coastal party in Amble (20 minutes), where beach huts, fish shacks, canoeing, kayaking and boating make for a classic day out.
