Liked: Absolutely fantastic 2 night break in the wild for our 5 year olds birthday.
The Pre-pitched tent was a godsend as first night saw torrential rain from arrival until 2am and meant we didn’t have to attempt at pitching up our own tent in the weather.
Campfire was fantastic as kept us warm during the first evening and bugs at bay the next day too.
Very cosy atmosphere with the fire and fairy light around the site.
Also the little tin paddle boat was a lovely perk to our adventures in the 6 acre woodland.
Extremely peaceful and you really are able to be at one with nature. A perfect escape from the hustle no bustle of everyday life.
You are able to get mobile phone reception down around the camp site, however, we spent 2 days in aeroplane mode. Switch off to switch off 😊
Our little one absolutely loved his time here, he even found a juvenile smooth newt! Wig you’re n outdoor person or family and love to see your children be just that, children, there’s plenty to do and explore.
Once you’re set up with your food and drinks, there really is no need to leave the tranquility of the woodland (unless you fancy the local pub, or The Punch Bowl. Though we didn’t)
Toileting is a chemical toilet inside a shelter, and drinking water is available from a stand pipe which is fresh from the farm house.
Paul is fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area and there to help if needed. Due to the recent heavy downpours, the drive down to the camp from the farm house was too treacherous for our car and so Paul was there to help us transfer our belongings into his off roader and then take us down to the camp. This in itself was all part of the fun for our little boy, he loves his ride in the back of the “safari car”.
But otherwise, Paul let’s you have the entirety of the woodland to yourself during your stay.
My husband uses a sleep apnoea machine and so we had to take a portable power station with us to use at night. Unfortunately, our own power station drained of battery one the first night and Paul allowed us the facility to charge it back up full for the second night which we deeply appreciated.
Such a wonderful escape, almost ethereal.

Practically Perfect Pony Pad shepherd's hut
Liked: You really do get a lot of space to yourself here, the pony pad is stand alone with great views out to York from your room and a little outdoor space to enjoy. Its really nicely simplistic, I like that there is no wifi because it prompts you to spend the time in nature.
Theres lots of pretty ponies you can see galloping and enjoying the outdoors which is lovely and the hosts are very welcoming! I was lucky enough to get to go walk down and see the camping site with the owner because no one was in it at the time, and it's really family friendly and so convenient if you want lots of space for just your family, with different activities and cooking facilities available to you. I didn't stay7 in this one, but it's on my list to return to when I'm next touring!
Location is also great for tourists, both Harrogate and York are near by, only just over an hour drive to the Yorkshire Dales if you're looking for AONB's
