As a smaller, adults-only site in the Yorkshire Dales National Park that welcomes couples and solo travellers but not groups, Wharfe Camp encourages a peaceful, quiet atmosphere where you'll be surrounded by the sounds of the countryside. As well as only accepting a small number of people, it has views of the green north Yorkshire countryside and is a five-minute walk from Kettlewell with its three pubs, bistro, garage, launderette and well-stocked village shop. The rural settlement (known for its annual Scarecrow Festival) is on the Dales Way, so there are lots of scenic walks in the local area. The River Wharfe is also metres from the site for kayakers, and Kilnsey Crag is less than 10 minutes’ drive away for the climbers. Cavers are also sorted as the subterranean systems in Wharfedale are about the same distance from the site. If you are sticking to strolls, the circular route around the glacial lake at Malham Tarn starts from 45 minutes away or you can wander up to the waterfalls at Gordale Scar to gaze up at the overhanging limestone cliffs, stopping by Malham Cove to take snaps of the odd rock formations (35 minutes from the site) along the way. On site, the back of the family barn has been extended to include new toilets, a hot shower in a wetroom and washing-up facilities. Recycling’s also encouraged. Please note this is a place that's all about the peace and quiet, so no radios, televisions, musical instruments or musical kits are permitted. Guests are asked to close the car door and boots gently. Group bookings aren't permitted either (this includes groups making individual bookings and meeting up on site).

  • No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Bookings must not consist of more than 1 different households.
  • No gas barbecues allowed.

Liked We had a great time at Wharfe Camp, despite storm Dave!! The camp site is spacious & very clean with everything we needed. Kettlewell is a short walk away & plenty of walks in the area too. Sean was a wonderful, friendly host & we’re looking forwards to visiting again soon.

Liked I really liked that it was a"quiet" site, adults only, no groups and no music, it made it such a relaxing place to be.
Plenty of walks from the village, so once we'd parked & set everything up, we didn't have to use the car again.

Liked Beautiful site and quiet. Friendly welcome by owner and his chickens which was very entertaining. Clean and warm facilities. Worth the drive on the windy road.

Disliked No kettle for that quick brew on arrival. Narrow and winding approach road.

Liked Quiet, small site. Really private. Lovely bathrooom / shower facilities. 5 mins stroll on a flat road in to Kattlewell. Nice pubs. Easy to do Great Whernside. Loved it!!

Liked Scenery, area, chickens and Sean who was very informative on local walks etc. clean facilities.

Disliked Sadly the ground wasn’t hard standing as advertised and had a slight slope but due to the soft ground, I couldn’t use the levellers. The additional £10 per night EHU fee I feel was very high. Road close by and traffic noisy on occasion.

Nice big private pitch.
Sean the owner is very helpful and friendly. He was able to give us lots of information about the local area and the walks and pubs in Kettlewell.
We like the free roaming chickens they made us laugh trying to get into the van. LOL.

Kilnsey Crag is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the site if you are here to scale some walls, and the underground systems in Wharfedale are about the same distance away for subterranean capers… And, try out fly fishing at Kilnsey Park (10 minutes) too. If you are sticking to strolls, the circular route around the glacial lake at Malham Tarn starts about 45 minutes’ drive away, and a wander up to the waterfalls at Gordale Scar to gaze up at overhanging limestone cliffs, stopping by Malham Cove to take snaps of the odd rock formations, is possible about 35 minutes from the site. For more forays into the countryside, Great Whernside and its fell walks take 10 minutes to reach. Along with the hills, the market towns are also worth visiting in North Yorkshire, like pretty Grassington (15 minutes' drive), where the new All Creatures Great and Small is being filmed, and Skipton, for its castle (25 minutes). Another ancient building to swing by is the 12th-century Augustinian monastery Bolton Priory 40 minutes’ drive away.
