What customers say

This peaceful, clean campground offers beautiful scenery and great fishing lakes, perfect for relaxing walks. Spacious sites and friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are clean, though some guests wanted more showers/restrooms. Day-time road noise from motorcycles was noted but usually stopped by evening. Convenient for visiting York and local spots.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Well kept, friendly host, slept well, individual site.

Disliked Although a small site, it does have room for potential if the owner wishes to expand.
Remove the mound on the left hand side of the caravan pitches, the owner could have twice as many pitches.
excellent for the Yorkshire Air museum which we went to on our bikes. Very close to York. We used the Designer Outlet park and ride.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely little site, always kept clean and tidy. Great for fishing. Toilets and shower cleaned to a high standard. At £25 a night very good value.

Disliked Unfortunately you're about 10 feet from a road!!! There are alot of motorbikes, very very noisy as they tear round the corners, unfortunately the site is on a corner, the weekend we arrived the noise was deafening, a bit better in the week. So for that reason alone we won't be returning.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Very easy, laid back check in. Paid balance on arrival. They don't take card so please remember this if you book. Toilets and shower not too far away. Nice little walk into the village. Lovely scenic location. Would definitely book again. 👍
Ventured to the cricket club a short walk from the site and found it to be super friendly and cheap prices too. Perfect if the weather is good to sit outside. 🍻

Disliked Whilst it wouldn't stop me booking again, it's quite close to the main road and given that there's a big motorbike presence in the area it can be loud from quite early in the morning. We stayed Saturday to Sunday and you can hear bikes from around 6.30 to 7am. The pub in the village is very quiet, even on a Saturday afternoon we were literally the only people in there.

Local attractions

On a former RAF site in Elvington, the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial (five minutes’ drive) displays military aircraft, including a Spitfire and a Messerschmitt, plus reconstructions and replicas of other planes. There's also a vintage-style cinema showing archive newsreels from the war years. Among the museums in York (20 minutes) are the National Railway Museum and the JORVIK Viking Centre, which illustrates life in York in the 10th century. After a stroll past the half-timbered houses lining the Shambles, head to York Minster and climb up the tower for far-reaching views of the city. For a different kind of water-y action from fishing, head to Allerthorpe Lakeland Park (20 minutes), where you can hire paddleboards and canoes, or rediscover your inner child as you bounce and slide on the inflatable adventure course.
