  • Stylish off-grid glamping pods in Ampleforth, in the North York Moors
  • Sutton Bank bike trails 10 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to York
  • Food pubs, café and shop five minutes' walk; Ampleforth Abbey 15 mins
Rural or village location for your North Yorkshire glamping break? The excellent setting of Ashberry Glamping feels very much like it mixes up both in the one spot. On the edge of Ampleforth, it’s got stunning views of the neighbouring valley and yet it’s also very handily placed just a few minutes’ walk from the village’s two pubs (both serving great food), cosy coffee shop and well-stocked general store. As well as being well located for those useful amenities, this off-grid pod is well placed for walks and bike rides in the surrounding Howardian Hills National Landscape or the neighbouring North York Moors National Park. Fishing, pony trekking and golf are among the other outdoor pursuits to try out while you’re in the area. Ampleforth Abbey, about 15 minutes’ walk away, is an interesting spot to visit nearby, with orchards and a cider mill to tour; further afield, you may like to plan trips to Helmsley, York or Rievaulx Abbey. Wherever you choose to roam, you’ll be coming back to a stylish off-grid pod that’s been designed to make a cosy escape for two. Set at the bottom of a track on the edge of a field, it’s got fabulous valley views by day and is in a wonderful spot for sunset drinks or stargazing evenings later on. All is comfy and convenient inside as well – the pod has a kingsize bed, a walk-in shower and a living space with a comfy sofa, Smart TV and heating. There’s also a kitchenette with hob, fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave to help you sort all your eats and drinks.
