  • Small, friendly pop-up glamping site on the banks of the River Ure
  • Half an hour's drive from both York and Harrogate
  • Cosy communal firepit area; river access for canoes and paddleboards
Fresh air and fabulous views meet a sense of cosy hygge at Aldwark Bridge Glamping, a friendly little pop-up site in the gorgeous North Yorkshire countryside between York and Harrogate (and about half an hour's drive from both). The bridge that features in the site's name is the Aldwark toll bridge, which crosses the River Ure. It’s an intriguing feature (thought to be the only toll bridge left in Yorkshire), and also gives you a good clue that the river is very close by. In fact, the site has a free landing area with access to the water, making this an excellent spot for launching your canoes, kayaks or paddleboards (although you're also very welcome just to sit down and enjoy the pretty views if you prefer…) Cyclists are well served here too, as the Coast to Coast bike path passes just past the site – and if that all sounds a little active, there’s always the option of a lovely riverside walk to the local pub instead. Everything here has been designed to create a cosy and comfortable experience for guests. Shared facilities include a luxury wet room with a walk-in (or wheel-in, as it’s accessible for wheelchairs) waterfall shower, and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen with a gas hob, a fridge and chunky shelves piled with pots, pans, plates and the like. The real highlight for many guests, though, is the communal firepit, where guests gather at the sociable seating (constructed from old bridge timbers) to chat, relax, have a drink and look up at the splendid starry skies – a wonderful way to spend an evening, for sure.
