Liked: We really like the quietness of Studley House Farm. A small site with everything we required. The owner Andrew was great, very informative and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The toilets and shower were extremely clean with hot water and hooks to hang clothes etc. Pub in village and also close to a bus stop, there wasn’t one on the other side of road, you just put your arm out to stop it!!

Disliked: In an ideal world I would have preferred separate areas for men/women showers and toilets. A local shop selling milk and essentials would also be handy.

Liked: Really quiet site and facilities were clean and good too. Pitches were spacious and well kept. Good location to get to coast in around 20 minutes time. Couple of good pubs with good food within minutes of the site which is also great. Owner Andrew is a nice guy and seems happy to help or advise when you need it.

Disliked: Wifi was available as phone signal is quite poor but unfortunately the WiFi didn't reach our pitch, we could get it closer to the main building area but when I went back to our pitch we lost it unfortunately.

Liked: Really lovely site! Great pitches where you didn’t feel crowded or overlooked. Nice and quiet. The facilities were clean and checked regularly. Really friendly host who was really helpful!

Disliked: The only thing I would say was a very minor negative .. there was only one shower for the whole site, so I did have to wait for a shower everyday. Also, would have been nice to have a male shower and a female shower… but that’s just my opinion. The site was lovely.

Liked: Lovely quiet site, plenty of room and flat pitches on hard standing. Met on arrival bybthe lovely site owner who escorted us to our pitch and pointed out all of the amenities. The Grapes PH within walking distance along a field path, served superb home cooked meals and really made a fuss of our dog, providing her with a treat and a water bowl as soon as we arrived.

Disliked: Nothing really to do with the site, but my dog disliked the electric fence along the nearby path, took off like a scalded cat when she inadvertently touched it!

Liked: Pleasant quiet site set in an old orchard. Large space between pitches. Well kept grounds. Friendly owners, very welcoming. Well stocked dvd library and small book/ magazine library. Good lighting during the night for access to toilet block. Level hardstanding.

Disliked: Toilet block minimal. 1 male + 1 female toilet in same block. 1 shower between everyone. Shower very basic.

Local attractions

Elsewhere, Studley House Farm is primely placed for quite a lot of North Yorkshire highlights, including trying your crafty hand at Ebberston's The Workshop to bring home a souvenir with a difference, or tackling golf, fishing and horse riding in the immediate area. Coastwards, Scarborough has quite a few grownup pursuits like Italian gardens, the Rotunda Museum, the Stephen Joseph Theatre and bagging fresh Yorkshire seafood in its fish market; Filey Brigg is a birdwatching and wildlife haven with hikes on the Cleveland Way, and Bridlington's birds – all 200,000 or so of them – can be found screeching their way around the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs. Nearby Dalby Forest on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park is a Forestry Commission-run setting with acres' worth of bike rides and hikes as well as regular events. (The bike trails here range from easy to extreme to severe, so see what your legs can handle.) More rides and hikes as well as climbing, caving and weeks' worth more are in the rest of the national park to the north. And then to the market town of Pickering, a short drive from base and the home of Pickering Castle and the Beck Isle Museum as well as the starting point for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway on its exceedingly scenic 18-mile puff from here to Grosmont. A bit further afield, ancient and walled York is full of old sites, museums, historic winding streets and well-priced restaurants.
