Powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked: I don't normally bother with reviews and I'll be as honest as I can be and speak solely as we found. 4 nights in a campervan with awning. Novices, originally booked on a grass pitch, but they rang to say they were unfit and so they were moving us onto a hardstanding which we approached. Nice looking clean park. Well placed. Good facilities.
Disliked: The pitch they moved us to was shocking. Inadequate width in view of the awning, which they knew about as we had paid the extra to have it, and consisted of randomly placed 2x2 flags for a touring caravan, some of these were broken and formed tripping hazards. This meant it was impossible to put the van anywhere without the awning going on top of the flags which meant you clearly couldn't sleep without the chance of being on top of a one, potentially sticking in your back. No choice but to park to the extremity and put the awning on the wet muddy grass which meant traipsing all that into the living area and van. No one available to speak to before we pitched even though it said they were contactable so we had no choice. Rang in the morning...no answer...left voicemail....to press still no response. Spoke to the shop assistant and while I accept she said she had no authority to move us, she could have contacted their head office which turned out to be down the road instead of me doing it, as far as I was concerned she represented the company as she wore a Lebberston Camping embroidered t-shirt. Eventually some chap answered, said it was the manager's day off and he'd come to have a look. Seemed pleasant enough but clearly didn't see an issue and said "you booked grass and you're on grass" but the fact was they didn't want us using the grass. He said we could move if we wanted and shoved us on virtually the same size pitch, albeit without the flags, with the result meaning the awning was still verging on the grass which as you can guess got churned up and again ended up inside. I accept camping/campervaning in wet cold weather is challenging for most let alone newbies but a bit of help or understanding would have taken the edge of it. Maybe complete different experience in summer but like I said above, I can only speak as I found. The only other thing I'd say is the shower cubicles are too shallow and whilst waiting for them to heat up your stood in a small bit between the door and curtain. Unfortunately they put a stool in there which uses space, stops the door from opening without knocking it into the curtain and because the curtains are short everything ends up with through. Why don't vendors actually try these things themselves as they would the see their shortcomings?
