Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked: Good clean site, well cared for, easy to find. Good size level pitches. Toilets and showers very clean.

Disliked: Wish we had known bar was closed on a Monday and fish and chip shop was closed Sunday and Monday.

Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked: Excellent on site facilities. Cliff top views. Easy check-in. Clean toilet and shower block.

Disliked: The site provided a leaflet which included taxi telephone numbers but didn't say where the taxis were based. We ended up ordering a taxi from Scarborough to take us to Filey, paying a lot more than using one in Filey.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Everything. Nice sized field for you to camp wherever you like. Beautiful sea views. If you want a quieter pitch, pitch up further away from the park and the toilets. Not that it is really noisy but we noticed alot of the families had pitched next to the park and the childless visitors were up near the cliff. Pub, shop, games room and chippy were handy to have onsite. (Get some cash for games room) Swimming pool was a massive bonus as too cold to swim in the sea so our son loved it.

Disliked: Nothing negative to say.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: It was lovely! The showers were really clean and plenty of them. The swimming pool was great, it was warm and only me and the kids in there it was lovely! Also very clean and showers available in the swimming pool to shower after. The entertainment in the conservatory bar was good! I love that dogs are welcome and I was able to take my pup on her first camping holiday! They is a very delicious fish and chip takeaway shop on site which we really enjoyed and was reasonably priced! Onsite they also had a supermarket for any essentials we had forgotton to pack and plenty of choice for drinks and snacks!

Disliked: They wasn’t anything we disliked about our stay!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Stayed at Crows Nest. Great location overlooking the cliff edge with views of the sea. Well organised site with toilets and showers and laundry and pot washing station. Nice club house and live music Saturday afternoon was great. Will definitely be back again.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike really as everything was fine. If there was one small criticism, it would have to be the bar staff weren’t very friendly / hospitable.

Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked: Lower area Very well maintained fully serviced pitch clean showers and toilet block reasonably priced good clean site ideal location for coastal visits

Disliked: On-site shop has the essentials but could do with with a wider variety for vegetarians/vegan visitors chipshop also used beef dripping resulting in going off site for fish and chips (awkward partner)

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
