Primitive cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: How clean the facilities where

Disliked: there is only 1 toilet and 1shower to serve the whole site. We paid a premium price of £40 for 1 night but unfortunately it wasn’t a premium site it was just basically a field.

From the manager: Hello and thank you for your review. You paid £11.66 per person for a Saturday one night booking plus £5 for your dog. There are two toilets and a shower we are only a small site. Yes, it is a spacious field. However what you get is a sea and countryside view plus you can barn owls hunting in our adjoining fields along with deer and other wildlife.

Excellent site, would recommend!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Amazing views, great walks nearby, 10 mins from Robin Hoods Bay! Brilliant facilities, toilets, washing up and a shower- all you need! Lovely farm noises to be heard, really peaceful. Lady who runs the site is very helpful, we’d definitely visit again!

Disliked: Nothing!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: It was a lovely stay. The campsite was very well looked after. There are very clean toilets, showers and separate washing up area. Very pleased with the stay. Not far from the village and the walk is enjoyable due to the beautiful scenery.

Disliked: Unfortunately, it was extremely windy when we stayed. We were so scared the tent would collapse.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Had a great weekend here for a mums break away. Everything you need is a short walk into Robins Hood bay. We even did the costal path to Whitby and got a bus back (which was really easy to find). The hosts were welcoming and had a chat with us. I’m going to come here with my family very soon. Toilets and shower was very clean and I even got myself some free range eggs.

Disliked: Loved it all.

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: The view from the campsite. The proximity to the coastal path. Ideal for walking to Robin Hood's Bay and Bogle hole

Disliked: The owner of the campsite, I found to be confrontational. No instructions where given about where we could empty our chemi loo. When I asked where it was, I was asked if it was urgent.. Then told that someone was out riding and that we be shown when they got back. We never where shown. They are taking the money and no Co consideration given to the campers.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: it was average

Disliked: We walked the coast to coast and this was the most expensive campsite, while the facilities weren't overwhelming . For this price you would expect a campers kitchen (kettle/tea bags etc., places for charging your phones ). There was, no hot water for washing (dishes and clothes). An honesty box for the shower (with this price)?? We visited campsites with far better facilities for prices like 9 of 10 pound per person. So lower the prices (for walkers) or improve the facilities to have a better value for money.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Nice place, friendly owner. As we were a group of males, no were else would take us but she gave us the chance and we in return didn't cause any grief. Toilets were good and close enough to robins hood bay.

Disliked: Field was a bit wet but we could understand that with recent flooding everywhere

Local attractions

So, where to get walking to? You’ll be going off-road on the 22-mile Cinder Track (under half an hour’s walk). Depending on which way you go, Scarborough or Whitby could be your end destination… with the latter, you’ll be on track for the gothic-style Whitby Abbey (15 minutes' drive), and spooky it is, as the 13th-century abbey was the inspiration for the Dracula novel. The Cleveland Way (under half an hour’s walk) is another cycling or walking route pretty much on your doorstep. It passes through Scarborough and Whitby too, as well the North York Moors and Saltburn-by-the-Sea – there are 109 miles, so you may want to be choosy about which section you go for. When you’re ready to rest your feet, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (25 minutes) is right and ready for a steam railway trip, perhaps on one of the historic Pullman carriages. As for those of you who aren’t ready for the action-packed activities to end just yet, there are the zipwires and treetop obstacles at Go Ape Dalby (45 minutes) or wakeboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking and an aqua park at North Yorkshire Water Park (45 minutes).
