  • Single luxury shepherd's hut at a secluded spot in Cropton Forest
  • In the North York Moors National Park, 15 mins' drive from Pickering
  • Cosy self-contained hut with woodburner, firepit and ensuite bathroom
A cosy glamping stay within a wildflower glade, with a forest backdrop – and all surrounded by the wild landscapes of a national park… sounds pretty dreamy, doesn't it? But it's not a dream at all – it's the reality at Into the Glade, a tiny glamping site in the wilds of the Cropton Forest within the North York Moors National Park. There’s just the one luxury shepherd's hut in this secluded spot, so you'll really be able to slow down and soak up this fabulous scenery in peace. And what scenery it is, looking out towards the forest and moors and with some wonderful stargazing by night (this is, after all, an International Dark Sky Reserve). Views this sumptuous require accommodation to match – and the owners of this place have certainly achieved that with this hand-crafted off-grid hut. It's been kitted out with a double bed, a woodburning stove and a comfy leather sofa as well as an open-plan kitchen and a stylish bathroom (with both rainfall and handheld showers, plus a Swedish waterless toilet). There’s also a firepit outside that’s just the place for a bit of cooking in the Dutch oven or just a glass of wine while stoking the flames. And, for that little extra taste of luxury, you can buy the Glade's own eggs and honey from the honesty shop. Fancy exploring a little more of your surroundings? A private path mown into the meadow leads you out into the woods for a stroll or a longer walk, and the owners are happy to share info about their favourite walking trails with you. There's plenty of scope for cycling too, or you can paddle in the river nearby (which has beavers and otters to spot further upstream).
