We want 'The Cud Life Campsite' to be as close to camping as it used to be when we were kids! Tradtional site, with family values, children playing safely, toasting marshmallows on the campfire and meeting other likeminded campers. Clean and warm toilets and showers, well spaced pitches with the most amazing views across the farmland, the only sounds being those of wildlife and the farms own cows. Most guests comment that they cannot believe we are as close to the centre of Harrogate because they feel like they are 'in the middle of the counrtyside'. You can walk to Harrogate in about 30 minutes or into the village of Killinghall in 10-15 minutes where there are two pubs and a fish and chip shop. Having the public footpath going directly through the farm you can't get closer to start a walk in either direction, our favourite being to the historic village of Ripley with quaint shops, gallery, tea room, castle and grounds and of course the world famous icecream! Join up with the sustrans greenway path for walkers, cyclists and horses.

Route directions

Directions: Postcode HG3 2AU (sat navs do not always direct to the farm so please copy these) From Harrogate take the A 61 north towards Ripon. When you reach the Skipton Road roundabout (you will see The Little Wonder Pub) you need to go straight on towards RIPON. Follow this road for about half a mile and you will pass a car sales garage (Motorhouse Cars) on your left. Once you get to the top of the hill you will see a sign that reads RUMBLE STRIPS, indicate right and our lane is exactly where it reads SLOW across the road. You will see the farmstay logo and there are reflectors (in daylight it is easier to look for the line of trees along the lane). From Ripon/Ripley, head towards Harrogate from the Ripley roundabout and pass through the village with the Three Horseshoes on the left hand side, keep on this road. As you leave the majority of the houses, you will pass 3 x 40mph signs all across the road, our lane is the next left on the middle of this long straight, look for the line of trees along the lane, the reflectors or Farmstay signs. When on the lane: Proceed over the cattle grid and along the drive (do not take the fork to Spruisty House) follow sign for campsite, you will pass a little bungalow and then reach farm buildings. The campsite reception is where the large green door is at the end of the lane, you must report here first and if we are not in the office, please call the buzzer or phone the number on the door and we will check you in.

Local attractions

Too many attractions and activities to mention! We have had families staying for two weeks who haven't had chance to do half of the things they wanted to do. Harrogate is half an hour walk or 5 minutes by car or bus from the end of the lane, with major shops, a plethora of restaurants, theatres, cinema and bars. RHS Harlow Car, The Pump Rooms, Valley Gardens and Royal Baths. The market towns of Knaresborough, Wetherby, Ripon and Thirsk are within a short drive from the farm. With the dales on our doorstep, incredible walks and even drives through the beautiful countryside there is just so much to see and do. Newby Hall, Harewood House, Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal and Lightwater Valley theme park all within half an hours drive. Finally there are lots of farm parks and even Llama tracking close by!
