Liked: Such a lovely welcome from the lady warden. She was very friendly. Made sure we knew where everything was. She saw we were a young couple and unbeknown to us, we had booked a pitch in the children's play area. She asked if we wanted to be put somewhere else, which we did. She walked us to where we were, and told us about the local shops, where was close by if we wanted a walk and if course about their facilities, lake and mini golf. They had a clubhouse onsite where we had reasonable priced drinks in a beautiful bar with outside area. We enjoyed some delicious food, which was clearly homemade which was a lovely surprise and value for money. While at dinner, it dawned on us we had everything but beans on the camper for breakfast. So, we asked if they could spare us some, they gave us a tin of beans so we could enjoy our breakfast in the morning. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the restaurant and facilities were that if hotel standards we loved our stay, even with the drissley rain and weather. On the day of departure, even though it was raining, the lovely lady warden walked up to our pitch to check we had a good time, and took out bag of rubbish and waved us off. Amazing customer service. Sadly didn't get her name but we think she stays onsite in the first static van of the park.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Nice quiet camping. Lovely new clubhouse, including a games room. Great food in the clubhouse. Nice play area. Nice pond. Pitch and putt, looks ok for target practice, but no green so putting would be pointless.

Disliked: Shower and toilet block, the block has been renovated, but the floor tiles are a death trap. My partner and myself both nearly fell on them. Someone is going to fall and split their head open or worse. I really think this needs sorting out ASAP, otherwise this campsite could have a big compensation claim on there hands, it doesn't matter if wet floor signs are up, if the floor isn't suitable. Maybe another bin compound would be good as well.

Liked: We liked the warm reception on our arrival. Linda went above and beyond to help us. The showers and toilets were close by and impeccable clean. Quiet pitch, plenty of space. Not far to walk into town. Supermarkets close by. We didn’t use the onsite bar but it looked lovely.

Disliked: Either there wasn’t washing up facilities or I couldn’t find them. Paid £10 for toilet key which was returned at the end of the stay, I didn’t have to use it as the toilet block door (ladies) was always propped open by the lock.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: Well maintained clean site with good sized level pitches. Very friendly welcome. Lovely clubhouse with good restaurant. The 10-15 min walk to the beach is well worth it as it leads to a lovely promenade along coast towards town centre. Unfortunately it isn’t signposted so had to ask warden for directions.

Disliked: We were plagued with midges on our first day, which was quite warm and sunny. Were told that anything bright would attract them.

Liked: This was a fantastic campsite!! The pitch was lovely, we were near the park, which was also close to the club house. The club house was so modern and the staff were lovely!! My little boy loved playing pool and we ate in the restaurant one night too and the food was delicious!!! They have lots of offers on too, such as kids eat free on Wednesdays, pensioner Tuesdays etc and there were crafts in the function rooms for the kids. Would definitely stay there again!!! Plus we had the best ice creams from Ellie’s Cafe and Seasiders Ice Cream who had easily over 100 combinations!!

Liked: I liked everything about this site. The toilets and showers were very clean. The restaurant was perfect when I didn't feel like making a meal. The menu had something foe everyone, the portions were generous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Fresh water and chemical waste available.

Disliked: I can't honestly say I didn't like it, but the pitches were uneven, even when chocks used.

Local attractions

You’ll be straight off to the coast for starters, presumably – the lengthy beach lends itself well both to family days of paddles and playing in the sand, and to long walks to fill those lungs with sea air. If you’re intrigued by the birds that stop off for a breather on their long migratory journeys, set off for Spurn Point National Nature Reserve (20 minutes’ drive) to spy on what they get up to. Folk more fascinated by flying machines than flying birds can see a rare Blackburn Beverley plane at Fort Paull (25 minutes), a military museum that’s also got underground tunnels to explore. There’s another chance to go below ground in Holmpton (five minutes), home to a huge ex-RAF bunker. Swap underground for underwater with an outing to The Deep aquarium in Hull (40 minutes); the city’s also got a transport museum, maritime museum, car museum and dinosaur attraction to visit, and plenty of places to catch a film or a show.
