  • Peaceful, dog-friendly site five minutes' drive from the beach
  • A 10-minute drive to Hornsea and 15 minutes to Bridlington
  • Just 10 minutes' stroll from a village shop and dog-friendly pub
Nothing like a bit of sea breeze to revitalise all your senses, eh? And there's plenty of that to be had around Samara Caravan Park, in the peaceful town of Skipsea. This East Yorkshire site is a short jaunt from several seaside towns: you can drive five minutes to the nearest beach (or follow the sound of lapping waves on foot) or get out to bigger towns like Hornsea (10 minutes' drive) and Bridlington (15 minutes). Meanwhile, the heritage grounds of Flamborough are 25 minutes away, where you can catch auks and gannets diving from chalky cliffs. A good antidote to hectic everyday life, this relaxed site is set up with facilities like toilets, showers and water points to top up your bottles or for your pots and pans, as well as a chemical disposal point. There are plenty of friendly faces on this family-run site, ready to point you in the direction of countryside jaunts, old ruins, and the best surf. Dogs are welcome at this site, so make sure you save a space for your furry friend. It’s a 10-minute stroll to the village shop and a dog-friendly pub, or a five-minute drive to a Yorkshire ice cream parlour (bubble gum ice cream, anyone?). Don't fancy cooking? Please note that fires and disposable barbecues are not permitted. Please note that pets must be kept on a lead as the site has free-range chickens.

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Pitch was large plenty of space for our awning. Near to the coast. The owner who showed us to our pitch was lovely. Information on where to visit local sites and distance was great especially as we were new to the area.

Disliked: Only one female toilet few times had to stand and wait outside plus didn’t seem to be any hot water. Quite noisy from other people staying near us but that wasn’t the site owners fault.

Liked: A lovely well laid out site with spacious pitches. A security barrier is in place which makes you feel quite secure. The owners are working on improving the site and are friendly and helpful. Lisa greeted us on arrival and directed us to our pitch and on our departure day Paul came over to us to say we were welcome to stay longer until weather conditions improved.

Disliked: Nothing at all to dislike

Liked: Extremely friendly owners and fellow campers. A clean and tidy caravan site with a short walk into the lovely village. Thank you Lisa for having us for the weekend x 😍

Disliked: Our WiFi wasn’t great. Although when we are away in our motorhome it’s not a problem as it’s nice to relax and not be disturbed by technology/social media/telephone calls 😜

Liked: This site was the worsted site I have ever stayed on I was there for 8 night there was 1 post with water point to service atv10 caravan plus I thought it was a hard pitch serviced pitch the electric kept tripping I reported it to owner they never listened to the complaints we use the same stuff in my van every time on a 10 amps units never had a trouble so basically we just time we was there then there was bad smell from the toilet block was there nearly all the stay there was no drainage the shower block well that was a joke dirty shower unit coming away from the wall there was no disabled toilet and shower the the smell from the under ground tanks was there nearly every getting into your vans we would never go back there again the people own the we're rude and they never listened to your complaint NEVER AGAIN GO BACK TO THIS SITE PETE

Disliked: THE SITE WAS THE WORSED WE EVER BEEN TO

From the manager: WELL where do i start, i was expecting a bad review from yourself from the minute you arrived, before you even decided to pitch up after you had finally stopped shouting at me and your wife. First off all you arrived insisting you had booked a fully serviced hardstanding pitch, shouting at me, saying my pitches were no good and you needed a fully serviced pitch. 1. We do not offer fully serviced pitches, it clearly states hardstanding pitch with electric, which is what we offer, nowhere on pitch up does it state a fully serviced pitch. You was shouting at me saying you had converted your caravan so you needed a constant water connection and drainage etc. I did say that if you wanted to cancel i would reimburse and you could book elsewhere with a fully serviced pitch and we do not offer these. 2. there are numerous water points around the site, you made it awkward for everyone else to fill there water butts up on one of the taps by connecting your hose and having a constant feed, which i said was not allowed, you again shouted and said you knew what you was doing and i didn't. 3. Your electric kept tripping because yes we are a 10 amp site, but you clearly told me that your shower was a household shower that needed 16 amp. i tried to explain that 10 amp required you to just be a little careful with how much you put on at once, but again you shouted at me, saying you were an electrician and knew everything about electrics and there was a problem with mine. I explained that there are another 30 caravans on site who are all on 10 amps and never have a problem. Funny how when My husband came down you back peddled and said you were not an electrician and he also tried to explain to you but you knew best, he put an ampage metre on and showed that you were trying to use more than 10 amps which is why it kept tripping. 4. Yes your right there is no drainage on the pitch for your waste water but again there not fully serviced pitches. 5. There was no smell from the toilet block at all all week, we do get the odd smells in the air but we are a rural site. The shower is perfectly useable and the whole toilet block is cleaned by myself 3-4 times a day, so can ensure you it is clean. 6. Funny how only you could smell the smell from the underground tanks, the other 30 caravans on site have not smelt anything and they are emptied regularly to avoid smells. 7. I was not at all rude to you at all, however you were very rude and arrogant to myself and also other guests staying on site, mainly the women, as they actually complained to me about how rude to them you were and said that you had done nothing but shout at your wife all week. Not once did you actually come over and politely ask to speak to me, every time i saw you, you were shouting at me, 8. I am glad to be honest that you will not be returning, however your wife would be welcome anytime, she was a lovely lady and i do hope she managed to get a little peace from the constant shouting at her you were doing all week. I wish her all the best and happy travels to her!

Liked: Friendly welcome, well maintained, clean toilets and showers. 15 minute walk to a nice pub serving decent pub food.

Disliked: Road noise. A few too many signs saying what should and shouldn't be done.

From the manager: Thanks for your comment. All comments are taken on board, although I'm not sure what signs your referring too. Local attractions

Being just two miles from Fraisthorpe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), it wouldn’t be a holiday without time spent digging moats on the sandy beach, examining rock pools, or chasing the pup into the surf (it’s dog-friendly too) Further afield, more coves can be found at the chalk cliffs of Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (30 minutes). The expanses of East Yorkshire countryside are right on your doorstep too. Pull on your wellies and prepare to hurdle the country stiles – and while you’re roaming, check out the earthwork left in the wake of the ruins of Skipsea Castle (two minutes), which used to be an old Norman motte-and-bailey fortress. You won’t be short of activities for the whole family in this area either. Perhaps prepare a picnic to enjoy on the grounds of the family-run working farm at Honeysuckle Farm (10 minutes). Then, pop by Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour (two minutes) for some real mouth-watering Yorkshire dairy ice cream – orange marmalade, ticklee toffee, and blackberry slammer are just some of their out-of-the-box flavours. Less of a sweet tooth? Dig into a heartier meal in the beachfront pubs of Bridlington and Hornsea (each within a 15-minute drive) or venture into markets of Beverley (30 minutes).
