Liked: Clean and tidy site just off the main route between Beverley and Hull. There's a designated parking area and wheelbarrows provided to transport camping gear between car and camping ground, which is just a short walk through Zak's Wood. There's a designated area with composting toilet, porcelain sink and proper shower with hot and cold running water. There's also washing up corner and drinking water supply and refuse area. Wood burners/fire pits are provided along with a plentiful supply of wood which you can choose to use or not. You can buy eggs, burgers and sausages and bacon, etc. from the site owners who live across the main road (it is a busy road so do be vigilant when crossing). There are a couple of horses, cows and pigs in secured fields surrounding the camp field, a couple of caravans for rent on their own little patches and there's fruit and veg grown nearby, including a plentiful supply of tomatoes which we were invited to pick a few to eat, if desired. The owners are a delight, they made us to feel very welcome. We did partake in a couple of tomatoes and bought meat for breakfast and BBQs all of which we can highly recommend. They don't allow too many tents on site at a time and it is a quiet site. There is some traffic noise since the site is situated just off a main road. There's plenty of places to visit nearby whatever your pleasure (beach, walled gardens, town/city, large garden centre serving carvery 7 days a week...)

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked: This may come up as my husbands account but this is Philippas personal review, staying at the campsite as a lone female. This peaceful haven advertised itself as basic however to me it was pure luxury let me explain...leave your car in the ' other world' and step through to a wildflower pathway leading to the glorious tree filled area known as Zak's wood walk along until you reach yet more lush grass to pitch your tent to views of horses and sweet small cattle ,then take a warm shower for free anytime. In the morning go to the owners shop by crossing the road and purchasing bacon eggs sausages....oh yes and pick some fresh tomatoes on the way back from the garden area within the campsite too! Also, you can charge your phone or other devices in the shop while you tuck in. The owners Vanessa & John are a constantly on the go couple, who will stop their busy day to help you in any way they can .Whilst you relax. during my stay l Sometimes spent the whole day reading and Watching the animals, making yet another cuppa, until it was time to observe the magnificent sunsets to be found here . So it is a luxury to spend time where there are more animals than people always a bonus🤣and be surrounded by flowers even in the always scrupulously clean loo! The owners welcomed me to share their space and it was extremely hard to say goodbye, made slightly easier by the fact that I know I will return . Thank you so much love Philippa
Disliked: Nothing
