Liked: The area

Disliked: This is our second time here now and wow it’s gone downhill from our first stay everything was clean and peaceful on our first stay but this time they have all year round pitches and you can tell they site has one female toilet with your cubical the men’s has one cubical and the other was locked the whole time we was there and they was very very dirty compared to our first time staying it was a young lady that was doing the cleaning of them as she looked like she was staying on the site in a tent with her partner and dog and not to the showers there’s only two on site and the floors where very wet with no grip and shower curtains that looked they’d never been washed I was so disappointed and we arrived at same time as two other couples one that left with in two hours of setting up and we had loads of issues with electrical issues and when going to see some one no one was about

Liked: Location - very close to Hornsea

Disliked: When we checked in, it wasn’t until we had paid the balance, that the owner informed us that there was a disco planned on the camping field for the Saturday night (apparently it happens every year) - we would not have booked if we had known that. The owner saw our kids (7 and 5) and said it will be winding down by 10.30 and they will just have to deal with it. My 5 year old had a panic attack at the volume of the music (luckily my in laws only live 30 minutes away so they decamped to there for the night but had to miss out on a night in the tent) Also, one toilet for ladies and a few for men, water pressure was none existent and the showers were unsuitable - one scalding hot, the other freezing cold. Pot wash area not suitable to wash anything of any size - it was a very shallow sink (luckily we had a large plastic box that had all our plates in so used that as a washing up bowl.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: Nice small site not to far from Bridlington and close to hornsea. Couple of showers available toilet block close by, washing up area nice. B&B on site so family members could join us for a meet up. Kids liked the guinea fowl and the peacock they named Peter! Pitches set out well with electric hookup available.

Disliked: Felt there could be better shower areas and a few more ladies toilets. Other reviews said it was a 10 minute walk to hornsea, we tried this and it was about 30 mins to the pebbly beach.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: We arrived unprepared thanks to everything that could go wrong, going wrong. We didn't think we would actually stay, thought we'd give up and go home. The campsite were so helpful. Supplying us with the connection for the electric hookup and a fire pit so we could have our campfire.

Disliked: Not enough female toilets. 1 female and 2+2 urinals for gents

Liked: Was a brilliant site had a lovely time. The owner was very polite and waited up for me as I finished work late on Friday. The site was fully set up with everything needed. Everyone on site was respectful of each other. We had a absolutely lovely stay and plan on booking again in the coming weeks 😊

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: It is generally a quiet site.

Disliked: Placed on a pitch over with seasonals due to site being over booked - whilst all seasonal owners were polite, as a family with children it would have been nice to have been with other tourers and in an area the kids could play together. Water pressure and toilets are an issue, x1 female toilet across the site with x2 men's plus x2 urinals for men. Once flushed the toilet in bathrooms you couldn't wash hands due to very little or no water. x2 showers across the site- not ample for the amount of users in my opinion and often cold water from the shower. Myself and my partner did stay here last year and re booked as we felt it was a lovely little site then- they have made some upgrades with having seasonal pitches which is great but don't seem to have upgraded the facilities to align with this. Which is a shame.

Liked: Nice quiet site, not too far from the beach. Coded gate so only people staying at the site can enter.

Disliked: Tent pitches are small and cramped, only 1 female toilet unless you use the 2 that are in the shower rooms.

Local attractions

If you’ve ever wanted to handle a furry tarantula or an exotic snake, Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo (five minutes’ drive) might make your dreams come true. At this centre focusing on tropical creatures, you can also feed colourful macaws, and get up close and personal with insects and lizards. A masterpiece of Tudor architecture, Burton Agnes Hall (20 minutes) houses a collection of French Impressionist paintings, plus tapestries, furniture and ceramics. On a good day, though, you might prefer to hang in the grounds, which include a walled garden with thousands of plants and several gigantic games (snakes and ladders and chess among them). One of the highlights in the city of Hull (40 minutes) is The Deep, a vast aquarium in a striking angular building on the estuary of the Humber river. Residents here range from sharks and piranhas to penguins and turtles, plus tropical snakes and poison frogs.
