  • Adults-only site on 12 acres of peaceful Suffolk farmland
  • Woodbridge 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Ipswich or Sutton Hoo
  • Dogs welcome; pubs and River Deben beach within walking distance
With easy access from the A12 and A14, plus 12 acres of peaceful natural land to its name, Low Farm Campsite is an excellent spot for an easy escape in a splendid Suffolk setting. This lovely location is part of the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape, and the owners of the site are doing their bit to preserve the local landscapes by returning their farmland to nature. As part of that approach, the guest areas have been designed to sit nicely in the natural setting, with plenty of space so that you’ll never feel crammed in even if the place is full. The idea here is to create peaceful, simple experiences, and with that in mind the owners have set the place up as an adults-only site with just the essential facilities – guests have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome as long as they’re kept on a leash on site – the area’s footpaths and open spaces mean you shouldn’t struggle to find a place for a good walk (whether you’ve got a dog or not). You’re allowed to set up a barbecue here if you’d like to do some outdoor cookery, but there are also a couple of pubs within walking distance serving up good food for those times when you don’t feel like it. Also within easy walking distance is a river beach on the River Deben, with boat trips available. Woodbridge (10 minutes’ drive) and Ipswich (20 minutes) are also close by for shops and places to eat.

What customers say

Guests love this adults-only spot for its quiet vibe, roomy, private sites (especially in the wildlife section), and spotless facilities. Easy self-check-in, beautiful nature, and nearby pubs/walks get rave reviews. Most found the few showers fine, but some mentioned possible waits during peak times.

Liked Very quiet , showers were the cleanest best designed showers I’ve used to date.

Disliked I thought the hook up pitches were far too close together- luckily we had no one next to us or it wouldn’t have been great.

Wildlife primitive grass campsite

Liked Absolutely love this place, coded entry making it secure and not having to deal with busy receptions. Love that you can just pick where to camp in the wild parking field. Lots of little private nooks so you actually feel like you are alone. So quiet and peaceful. Great, clean facilities. Short bike/car ride to a local pub by the coast

Disliked Nothing!

Liked Specious pitches and lovely clean washrooms.
If you’re non electric there are some really private little spots you could pitch up in.
Nice walks down to the river with a lovely pub serving good food. This also did breakfast 7 days but we didn’t try this.

Disliked Didn’t really have any dislikes although it is a big site so may get too busy for the number of toilets and showers

Liked Excellent location beautiful walk to the river and a really good pub. Quiet, clean site with lots of wildlife, would not hesitate to stay again.

Disliked Not clear where to dispose of dog waste nor where to dispose of grey water would prefer an option to choose pitch on arrival.

Wildlife primitive grass campsite

Liked Freedom to be an adult. We loved every minute we stayed there for the 1st May bank holiday weekend. We camped in the wild area and pitched up at our own leisure. We were allowed to pick our own spot which was harder than we thought as there were so many good spots to pitch on. We also hired the campsites firepit for evening campfires.
Toilets, showers and washing up area were spotless. Bin area is also very well organised.
Shops and supermarkets are only a 10minute drive away. Pub is an easy walk down the road and overlooks the river Deben. We loved watching people set up their sails and kids paddle at the shore.

Disliked Nothing, it was perfect!

Wildlife primitive grass campsite

Liked Great site. Easy to find, clear booking instructions, clean facilities, quiet and about a 10/15 walk to the pub by the river. Surrounded by nature we had all sorts of bird song throughout the weekend. Plus a badger or two!

Sites are clearly marked for electric and spacious for the non-electric. We were in the wildlife area and it was very spacious. Meant would spread out and not be encroaching onto a neighbour.

By chance we booked the weekend the pizza lady comes and would recommend her too. Very tasty and reasonably priced.

Recommend and will be back.

Disliked A very small thing, just a clear sign on the shower/washing up block for the bins etc. Me and a few other campers kept having to ask or guess where they were as the fencing hides them from view.

Local attractions

Works by Constable and Gainsborough are among the highlights of the art collection at the 16th-century Christchurch Mansion, just north of the town centre in Ipswich (20 minutes' drive). Restaurants and bars line the redeveloped Ipswich Waterfront, where it’s also possible to go on boat trips along the River Orwell. Discovered in 1939, the burial ground at National Trust - Sutton Hoo (20 minutes) yielded an Anglo-Saxon warrior’s boat grave laden with precious artefacts, from an ornate helmet to intricate gold jewellery and gemstones. Most of the treasure is now in London’s British Museum, but there are replicas here, plus a tower to survey the burial ground from above. Fancy a little water-based action? Head to Alton Water Sports Centre (25 minutes), where you can have a go at paddleboarding, hire a canoe to explore this large reservoir, or bounce and slide on the inflatables at the water park. Alton Water also has a couple of fishing spots, bird hides and viewpoints.
