Spacious campsite
Seaside pitches
Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitches

  • Kessingland site directly on the Suffolk coast
  • Three different pitching up areas over 28 acres
  • Two new amenities blocks, including disabled and family rooms
What a beach! And what a view… The gorgeous East Anglian coastline and an expanse of Suffolk sands sweep out for miles from The Hollies touring and camping park near Lowestoft: the site is set on a cliff and the views from your pitch or your firepit of an evening will be Hollie-wood worthy. It's Kessingland Beach below you at The Hollies, which is a highly scenic ten or 15-minute saunter along the clifftop path and an equally scenic scene on arrival with its miles of golden sand. And the beach is dog-friendly all year round, as is The Hollies – hurrah and woof. The amiable Hollies team has arranged three picks of pitches on its roomy 28-acre site: the Barley field for tourers and with electric hook-up; the Seaside field for tents and without electric; and the Hay field especially suitable for mixed groups with a mix of tent and touring pitches, all with electric. Amenities are newly built and include two large shower and loo blocks with family rooms and rooms for disabled guests; a newly built playground is on site too for Suffolk coast-based little squirts.

What customers say

This well-kept site has direct beach access via steep stairs and stunning sea views from the cliffs. Guests rave about friendly staff, clean, modern amenities, spacious sites, and onsite food. Ideal for exploring the Suffolk coast. Some noted occasional noise and intermittent hot water issues in showers, which management has addressed.

Seaside primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Stayed on the Seaside tent pitch, so can’t really comment on the rest of the park. Large open field with some grassed banks to provide areas to pitch up to, but complete free will where to pitch, no designated space. Level and clean.

Shower block was clean, although had an aroma.

Could have had fish and chips on-site from mobile van for dinner, but went out instead, and the on-site breakfast van which we would have used today was closed 🙁

Lovely to have access to the beach and really enjoyed just sitting on the benches supplied at the top of the cliff with a mug of coffee looking out at the view.

Disliked Young children running ‘wild’ still at 10:30 in the evening, but saying that England were playing in the World Cup this evening, and noise from children is to be expected 🤷‍♀️

Liked The location and its proximity to the beach.
The facilities were very clean and the Warden was very helpful.

Disliked There was very little on the site itself and no clubhouse. There are great little coffee and breakfast cans but there needs to be more. Maybe like a small bar where you can get lunch or dinner and it would be more social.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Goodsized pitches, clean toilets/shower block. Friendly staff. Lovely walks along the coastal path along the cliffs. Buses outside run to Lowestoft, Southwold and Norwich and smaller villages in between. Quiet evenings with the 1100pm rule being adhered to (except the England football match night!)

Disliked No basin sink plugs or dish wash plugs, asked a member of staff and dish wash plugs had been ordered and were replaced later that day (although one disappeared overnight....why???). Very steep steps to beach.

Local attractions

The Hollies is in a spiffing location to get to the best of Suffolk, Norfolk, the countryside and the Broads for a bit of whatever you fancy in boating, fishing, hiking, rainy day activities and family days out. Lowestoft, Southwold and Great Yarmouth are all within ten miles – Lowestoft is only about five minutes by car – and are all well worth a day trip each, as is lovely Norwich about an hour's drive to the north-west (services run regularly from Lowestoft Station too). Lowestoft has two theatres and a handful of small museums in Sparrow Park alongside the main Lowestoft Museum in Nicholas Everett Park; head to the library's local history section for more pics and info of days of yore. Lowestoft's lighthouse is probably its most well-known feature, but take time for a trip to Ness Point too, the most easterly location in the UK (just ask a Lowestoft local to point you towards Gulliver). If you're on hol with the kids, you'll find loads of family-friendly options in the area, like the Africa Alive animal park five minutes' drive from the Hollies (go here on a Sunday for a bonzer of a car boot sale) and the Pleasurewood Hills theme park about 20 minutes away. Kids might also like the wooden roller disco at Lowestoft's Claremont Pier, but if this doesn't have them wheeling around in joy, take them to walk the plank at the play park Adventure Island, or to see more species at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park just outside Great Yarmouth. Finally, nautical sorts don't need to tie themselves in knots trying to find a craft to take care of, as fishing boats can be chartered near Kessingland for sea angling trips, and the Norfolk Broads Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is within easy reach to drift along wildlife-laden waterways.
