Quiet camping field with kids’ attractions behind an Ipswich pub

If you’re looking for somewhere central and child-friendly to camp in Ipswich, then you’re in luck with The Flying Horse pub. On a safe, secure field with CCTV monitors everywhere, the simple grass pitches behind the pub come with free parking and a free taxi service into town when you spend £40 on food and alcohol. Alternatively, there’s a bus stop less than five minutes’ walk away. The site provides baby-changing facilities and pub toilets (one with disabled access), which close overnight, but no showers. There’s a free soft play area inside the pub, which opens every morning for toddlers aged under four, and a playground outside for all kids – in both cases they must be supervised by an adult at all times. There’s freshly made-to-order food and hot drinks available from 9am at Cavallo Volante Café inside the pub, which itself opens at 11am for alcohol, soft drinks, snacks and a full menu served until 8pm – takeaways are available, and there’s nearly always family-friendly entertainment in the evening too. A large beer garden stands at the back of the property, and you can exercise your well-behaved dogs in the adjacent field (please pick up after them). One point to note: please only consume alcohol bought in the pub when on site. Any breach of this will result in immediate eviction of you/your group and camping equipment. No refunds will be provided.

Liked Dat wij een slaapplekje hadden bij de Ferry. (43min van harwich)
Vriendelijke vrouw die heel behulpzaam was. Wij waren de allereerste die er mochten kamperen. Schone dixies.

From the manager: Hello,
Im sorry the night was a busy one. As my first camper, ive now learned to tell any bookers about any event we might have on that night. Also, WiFi is available if you had asked, again in learning, maybe I should have given it to you on arrival. Just we had a very big event on and I was just unfortunately too busy to think of it.
I sat outside til 11pm to make sure everyone stayed inside after 11pm. And nobody was left outside after 11. There is wildlife around, so maybe it was that? I offered to leave the field light on for you, but you did decline.
Again eith the parking, usually you can park right near the field gate, but we had lots of stall holders etc.. who may have left the mess too.

Im very sorry about this, but have learned lessons for future bookings. Thankyou gor camping with us, sarah

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 4 day(s) of arrival.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
