  • Secluded farm campsite on a Suffolk wildflower meadow
  • Half an hour's drive from Southwold or Aldeburgh
  • Cooking kit and firepit at every pitch; on-site shop for local produce
If you appreciate good food, wood fires and surrounding yourself with nature, Fire and Feast may well be the place for you. With big Suffolk skies above and a backdrop of birdsong and meadow flowers rustling in the breeze, this family farm is just the place for a long lazy weekend or a fully-fledged family holiday making memories around the campfire. This secluded site is intentionally small to ensure that you have all the space you need to relax, with spacious meadow pitches cut into long grass to create further privacy. If you fancy stretching your legs, the site's network of tracks across the farm link up with local footpaths, providing country walks for little legs or keen hikers; there are also miles of country lanes well-suited to cyclists. This site is seriously big on wood fires – every pitch is equipped with a full cooking kit and firepit, with members of the team on hand to share tips and recipe ideas. Fire and Feast also has a little market garden you can explore, while the on-site shop showcases the best Suffolk food from the local area. Further foodie options are close by too, as Fire and Feast is about 15 minutes' drive from the traditional market town of Halesworth, where there's a good range of pubs and restaurants as well as a handy railway station.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Loved this campsite- it was lovely having your own individual pitch with fire cooking facilities and a picnic bench. Fran and family were great and very quick to respond to any questions. We loved having use of the tipi when it was available too- esp when it was hot it provided somewhere shaded. The showers and toilets were brilliant.

Disliked: As a noise sensitive family we did find the combine harvester in the next field a bit difficult. We also found the first night a little challenging as there was an event in the tipi and there was quite a lot of noise coming from the party- they didn’t leave until 10:40 and the noise of washing up and staff continued until 11- I think when advertising as a strict no noise policy after 10:30pm this really needed to be adhere to. Other than that we loved it

Local attractions

The Suffolk coast, with its cute seaside towns and pristine beaches, is about thirty minutes' drive away, with Southwold and its pier and the old fishing port of Aldeburgh both popular picks with guests. Alternatively, you might like to head to the wild remoteness of Shingle Street (50 minutes), for a traditional bucket and spade day at Lowestoft (50 minutes) or to Southwold (30 minutes) for its regular music and arts festivals. For birdwatchers, RSPB Minsmere Reserve (30 minutes) is a must, where the coastal heathlands, meandering rivers and rolling fields create an ever-changing landscape. Families, meanwhile, would do well to visit Easton Farm Park (30 minutes), where there are lots of friendly animals and farm-related activities for younger visitors. History buff? The local area has two must-see medieval castles: Framlingham (20 minutes) and Orford (35 minutes). To explore the area's more recent past, stately homes like Somerleyton (45 minutes) have spectacular gardens and parkland, or you could head to Orford Ness (40 minutes) to check out the eerie fortifications dating back to the Second World War.
