Lower Meadow primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful setting. Really good facilities and especially liked the eco feel of everything. Very friendly staff.

Disliked: The washrooms would be even nicer if a duster was put round. There is a lovely coat stand but covered in cobwebs. I wouldn't want to put my coat on it.

Lower Meadow primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Loved this site. Reminded us of the amazing city campsites you get in France: feels really remote and peaceful but you’re only a few mins drive from centre of Norwich. You could even walk into town in half an hour or so from here. Walks out around the Broad and river are beautiful. Loads of great activities to do. Facilities excellent and clean + a great little shop at the reception on site. Would recommend to families as great for kids but also we found it perfect for us just as a couple on our own. It was a very well run site.

Disliked: I’m not 100% sure but there didn’t seem to be any electric hook ups. If we came again (which we would love to do) and stayed for more than 3-4 days we might appreciate some electric to charge our batteries and lights etc. I do remember they offer phone charging at reception though.

Lower Meadow primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Easy to pitch on even ground, even though you can only park in car park I was allowed to unload near my pitch. Wheelbarrows are available for those who need it. Facilities were always clean and shop had everything you need. The lake was a few minute walk so taking my kayak to launch was easy. (£7 per day) Staff were friendly and helpful too!

Local attractions

Sticking to the Broads – just to start with – you’ll have the pick of waterside walks, watersports, cycling and wildlife spotting on the Whitlingham Broad doorstep. The café next to the campsite has a visitor centre with interactive info on the Broads to help you narrow things down a bit, and you can also catch the river boat here into Norwich city centre. For something a little more unusual, a ski club is a smooth 10 minutes away. Walks with a view are all around the site and within easy dandering distance: kids might like to monkey around on the child-friendly low ropes course through the nearby woods, in a spot where there’s also a play pirate ship to batten down the hatches at and an old lime kiln to have a peek at (be careful not to disturb the bats that roost there). The Wherryman’s Way path along the Yare in the Yare Valley is also a very good walk (and ends at a very good pub); the 12 circular walks along its route are handy for those who don’t fancy following it all the 35 miles to Great Yarmouth.
