  • Friendly and peaceful family-run riverside site just outside Norwich
  • A 25-minute drive into the city centre and 45 minutes from the coast
  • Kayaking, canoeing and fishing on site; pubs and food shops nearby
Roll out of bed and launch a kayak, canoe or any other river craft directly from Peggy’s Pasture Campsite. This riverside site has a private stretch on the river Wensum, making it a ripe spot for families to check in for some downtime. Family-run, things are pretty peaceful on this gently sloping two-and-a-half-acre Norfolk site, 25 minutes’ drive away from the centre of Norwich and 40 minutes’ drive from splendid seaside towns such as Cromer and Great Yarmouth (a nice day trip for crabbing, snorkelling or fish and chips). Whether you’re a seasoned fisher or a complete newbie, cast out your rod for some private fishing at the on-site river (available when you buy a fishing day pass on site). And after you’ve splashed around with some watersports, there’s an amenities block to shower off. All the activities are certainly thirsty work, so you'll be happy to find you can top up your water stores with fresh drinking water on site. When it comes to food, there are plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants within five minutes’ drive of the site, making it easy to treat yourself to a cold drink, takeaway or a meal out. Handily, there's a food shops five minutes’ drive away too, so you’ll be well-set to make sure you’ve got some snacks to hand as you head around Norfolk's nature reserves.

Local attractions

For those of you with all the band along, family days out aren’t far away. Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure (10 minutes’ drive) for a theme park party prehistoric-style or BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) for an adventure park that’s all about treehouses, much more monkey-style. That’s not forgetting Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park (55 minutes), with all its rollercoasters, rides and animal shows. What of those nature-packed places too? Well, when you make your way to The Broads (25 minutes), a national park with rivers and lakes, it’s easy to dive right in with some watersports. Or you could take your pick of walking, cycling and wildlife spotting from Mid-Yare National Nature Reserve (half an hour). There are a load of activities on the seaside too, from crabbing or snorkelling in Cromer (40 minutes) to playing around the amusement pier in Great Yarmouth (40 minutes). As for the city, well, Norwich (25 minutes) is a good nook for a cathedral or castle caper or bargain-hunting in the market.
