Powered grass campsite

Liked: Everything about this site was excellent. The owners are friendly. The site is pleasant and relaxed. The shower and toilet block is always spotlessly clean and in excellent condition. The little shop came in handy as I needed some tent pegs and a battery for our smoke detector. We also bought a nice bottle of wine from the shop. I can’t fault the place and I would recommend it to any camper.

Disliked: Nothing.

FHU grass campsite

Liked: Very friendly staff. Extremely well managed and looked after. Literally one of the cleanest sites I have ever been too. The pitch was very spacious with decent ground conditions. Plenty of little games etc for the kids to keep them entertained. On site shop very well priced.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The owners are extremely welcoming, on arrival we were shown around the site and given an option of two pitches, the pitches were a great size, very even ground with lots space. Large spacious area for children to play, play equipment, basketball hoops football goals all on the field. Our granddaughter made friends pretty soon after arrival and enjoyed the freedom. The showers and toilets were kept to a very high standard of cleanliness, and they went above and beyond with the little extras. The washing up facilities were indoors and there were communal fridge freezers for campers to use. There was also washing machines and a tumble dryer which could be used for a small fee as well as communal washing lines, iron and ironing board. The camp shop was small but had a good supply of items at very reasonable prices. Outside of the shop/reception area was a communal area with games for the kids, swing ball table tennis etc . On Sunday and Thursday there was live music with a bar although you could bring your own drinks along too and a food van which sold lovely food with large portions. The site gates are locked from 11pm until 7 pm however the owners are very accommodating if you let them know you will be out later. All in all an amazing campsite. Would definitely recommend and would 100 % return.

Liked: Very friendly people run this site. They work hard to provide clean facilities and anything you need. Small shop on site providing essentials and bits you may have forgotten to bring. Large play field at the bottom of the site for the children to play with small children play area, basketball net, football goals etc. Dogs are welcome and can be walked around the field but must be on leads. Very quiet at night and early morning. Pitches were spacious. Will definitely return and happy to recommend.

Local attractions

Angling fans will be well served with a stay at Bylaugh Country Park – the Wensum river is nearby, and several carp lakes, including Swanton Morley, Billingford and Lenwade, are ripe for fishing within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If a beach break is more your bag, it's a 40-minute drive to the northern coast of Norfolk, where you can explore the Norfolk Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walk the Norfolk Coast Path and visit the scenic seaside towns that line it. Head back in time with a trip on the steam trains at Mid-Norfolk Railway and Bure Valley Railway, both within 30 minutes of the site, or by visiting the stately homes of Blickling Estate, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall and Sandringham, all within 40 minutes of Bylaugh. There’s plenty close at hand for entertaining the kids too: they can meet the wildlife at Pensthorpe Natural Park, run wild at BeWILDerwood or get their own taste of history at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure. If they’re up for a slightly longer jaunt in the car, you can all get your adrenaline pumping on the rides at Pleasurewood Hills theme park.
