  • Dog-friendly site on a privately-owned nature reserve
  • A 40-minute drive from Sandringham Estate; walk to the local pubs
  • One-mile woodland walk and railway carriage tea room on site
Setting up base on a nature reserve is very much on the horizon at Manor Farmโ€ฆ and what else? Well, on a privately-owned nature reserve in Cambridgeshire, this stunning spot is also half an hourโ€™s drive away from the market town of Kingโ€™s Lynn and 40 minutes from the historic Sandringham Estate. First, set off on the woodland walk on site, which is just over a mile long. Set in three woodlands and with open grassy spaces galore, the site is just stunning. One of guestsโ€™ favourite spots, of course, will be the 1886 railway carriage tea room on site, which serves freshly baked and cooked real food, all homemade โ€“ tea, cake, a full afternoon tea or Sunday lunch, you decide. The siteโ€™s dog-friendly too, and a dog exercise field is available for hourly hire should you want to use it. For the kids, just potter over to the kidsโ€™ play area. Relaxing and unplugging is easy all around, what with the pretty scenery. Keen anglers can take a 35-minute walk to the local fishing lakes. For those who are more invested in hunting down a local pub for a drink or two, thereโ€™s one just next door and another half an hourโ€™s walk away โ€“ handy, indeed. The site also has toilet and shower facilities.

Liked: I would stay here again, the showers were lovely and warm and good toilet facilities too. We parked up for one night and it was perfect for us.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: The owners were amazing, upon arrival Allan came out to see us and let us know where all the features of the site are. The 1886 tea room carriage was cosy and warm and a beautiful example of bringing the past into the present, all food is prepared by haylay and is fantastic. The woodland walk is peaceful and a lovely walk day or night. It is maintained to a level where it looks natural which as a nature lover I really appreciated. The pitches are all marked out using natural barriers in the form of longish grass allowing nature to make it there home (listening to the inspects and animals in the grass whilst going to sleep was heavenly) Local shop and takeaway is a lovely 30 minute walk down the road to parson drove Shower and toilet block are kept clean and tidy, with constant hot water available and a double socket in the hallway

Disliked: That I couldn't stay any longer than I did because of appointments

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: This is a very nice little site, on a farm with some woodland to walk in. The toilets and showers are very good, hot water and very clean. It's hard to describe how I feel about the place because for ยฃ15 per night it was very good, but the description led me to believe that it was much more than it is. The woodland walks and tea room are very run down and overgrown, and need some attention, but if they hadn't been mentioned in the description I wouldn't have got my hopes up. All in all, I'd say it's a nice, basic site, a bit run down but value for money. And the owners were friendly and helpful.

From the manager: Hello Lesley, Thanks for your review. The 1.1 mile walk here is definitely here, although un-manicured itโ€™s kept natural for the wildlife that I have encouraged to thriveโ€ฆand the 1886 Railway Carriage Tea Room is doing very well for itโ€™s ageโ€ฆnot many left these days so I am very proud to offer the experienceโ€ฆ All the best Alan and Hayley

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: The site was perfect for a break where you felt close to nature. It was clean and quiet. We managed to book a couple of days where we had the whole site to ourselves. The owners are incredibly helpful and I have to say we were very impressed. Perfect for my grandaughters first experience of camping (no Wi-Fi!) which is just what we needed! The site is surrounded by a beautiful woodland walk where you can collect wood for the campfire. We would definitely recommend this site if you are looking to escape from the madness of daily living and get back to nature.

Disliked: Not really anything to dislike if you are looking for a relaxing camping site. If I was going to mention anything, it would be that we didnโ€™t get to visit the little carriage cafe on site as its only open on weekends but the owner very kindly said we still could buy some of the items on the menu. Next we plan will be on a weekend ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Plenty of open space to experience nature. Basic campsite but you canโ€™t quibble for the price. Spotlessly clean toilet facilities.

Disliked: Very large group staying whilst we were there. Site got a bit noisy and the one toilet (as one was out of order) and one shower each for the men and women was a bit stretched.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: It was cheap The basic shower and WC worked and it was clean. The owl that kept me awake for a couple of hours

Disliked: Very, very basic. In need of a lot of TLC. It doesnโ€™t seem like the place has had any investment in the last 30 years.

From the manager: Wow!!! I am sorry you were robbed of your ยฃ15 for such a miserable stay!!! I am equally sorry that as a solo traveler you marked us 2/10 for child friendlyness when you arrived alone on your motorbike!!! And most of all I am sorry that this place was wasted on your ignoranceโ€ฆ
