  • Adults-only site on a farm two miles from Huntingdon
  • Two miles' walk to village pub for food and beer
  • 45 minutes' drive from college tours and punting in Cambridge
Hunting for a place to stay near Huntingdon? Get along to Glebe Farm Caravan Park, an adults-only two-acre rural site on a working farm in the cracking Cambridgeshire countryside, a couple of miles from Huntingdon and St Ives. Settle in here and you’ll be surrounded by serene cereal fields – the farm’s speciality is growing gluten-free porridge oats. Take a walk on the trails around the park to see where your grub is grown and meet friendly farm horse Sorrel; look under your feet and see if you can spot evidence of the remains of two World War II planes (a Wellington Bomber and a Mosquito) lurking beneath the surface. If you fancy a longer walk, there are plenty of country footpaths around the site; site owner Rebecca’s happy to dole out advice, including pointing you on your way for the two-mile trot to the Crown Inn, a trad pub that serves up tasty meals. There's also a good choice of pubs, restaurants and cafĂ©s in Huntingdon, St Ives and in the local villages. Barbecued crocodile for dinner instead? A farm shop a few miles away specialises in unusual choices for your DIY meals, alongside a more traditional range of cheeses, deli produce and meats, and you’re welcome to light up a barbie back at base. As the folks here mainly focus on their farming activities, they’ve kept the facilities to a minimum, just installing a toilet/shower block and setting up a free wifi connection.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Great quiet campsite with good facilities, returned after 5 years and still good! All the information for local attractions is really helpful and the beer festival over the bank holiday weekend at the pub in walking distance was great!

Disliked: It’s on a working farm so farm traffic near site on week days might bother some people but we didn’t mind

Liked: Setting was nice and uncrowded, toilet and showers were well kept and site owner was lovely.

Disliked: Chemical toilet was a trek because the one near the toilets was out of action. As it was a working farm there was a lot of working farm machinery going on around you during day, combine harvester, lorries into farm ect.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Chemical toilet tank was emptied within 24hours of being full. August is our busy time as with most UK cereal farms at this time of year with harvesting etc. Whilst the sun was out the combine harvester harvested the oats and then the straw was baled. The tractors and trailers collected the bales and all this from start to finish was completed in the last 7 days.

Very peaceful site. Close to St Ives, Huntingdon and Cambridge. Clean toilet

Liked: Email prior to arrival with directions, coded gate info and phone no.s etc. we was in top field and loved it. WiFi signal was good when needed, TV reception was over 200 channels, host Rebecca was fabulous. We cycled into st Ives and walked over the fields to the pub one evening (2miles) Facilities were lovely and clean and shower was hot. The farm has a little runway for light aircrafts which we enjoyed watching. It was lovely and quiet in the evenings, away from the hustle and bustle. We will definitely be returning.

Disliked: Disliked nothing.

Local attractions

A couple of miles away is the working 18th-century watermill Houghton Mill and Waterclose Meadows. Once you’ve seen the mill in action, take a canoe trip along the Great Ouse river, or head out for a country walk or cycle ride – you can walk from here to St Ives or Huntingdon, or cycle along safe paths all the way to Cambridge. For a bit more outdoor action, there’s sailing, canoeing and an eight-mile bike trail at Grafham Water (20 minutes’ drive), or fishing at Earith Lakes Fisheries (15 minutes). For alfresco animal antics, head to Hamerton Zoo Park (20 minutes) to explore on foot or ride the little road train. History buffs may like to take a trip to the Cromwell Museum, 10 minutes away in Huntingdon, or a wander around Wimpole Hall (40 minutes away). Ely cathedral is about 35 minutes away by car, and it’ll take you 45 minutes or so to join the clever folks in Cambridge to tour the colleges or punt your way along the River Cam.
