  • Wildlife and woods on site; pubs, farm shops and horse racing nearby
Tranquility Farm camping field may be quiet and secluded – it’s in peaceful fields accessed by a private road – but it’s also very convenient for the A11, making it a smashing base if you’d like to explore Cambridge and its historic colleges, visit the Imperial War Museum Duxford or have a flutter at Newmarket races. This is such a peaceful place that wildlife is abundant, so if you’re relatively quiet going about your daily business, you may spot hares, deer and badgers rootling around in the fields and private woodland. Locally, you can buy fresh asparagus, vegetables and eggs, and if you fancy a short walk into Great Abington village (10 minutes), you can pick up groceries at the handy store and linger awhile tasting local beers in the pub – which also serves up excellent food. The number 13 bus leaves every 30 minutes and takes you into the centre of Cambridge (or it’s a 35-minute drive) for a nosey around one of the country’s oldest universities. King’s College Chapel, the Mathematical Bridge and the Fitzwilliam Museum will probably be on your to-see list, while Trinity and St John’s colleges are pretty spectacular too. Basic facilities on site include hot showers and toilets in stylish wooden huts, a washing-up area, charging facilities for your devices and a wifi connection if you need to keep in touch with the folks back home.
